im in Townsville,...that sucks that its not done, ive had a quick look and the flapper looks stock but the inside sealing surface seems to be thiner but deffantly hasn't been done properly, the guy said he was running different tunes and that it wasn't spiking for him

how much should it cost to get it done properly?

a pretty common theme lately is people trying to save themselves money, buy off ebay/Gumtree/forums and getting lied to, end up costing more to get things done correctly, it's getting hard to trust anybody these days

yea been looking for a bf/ f6 turbo for agers coulnt find a deasont one for under 1100 so when I seen this one and they said it had been mod'ed seemed like a alright deal

If I didn't do this I was gonna pull my stock turbo off and change the front cover and the core to a gtx 3582R and than exchange the rear turbine housing for a mod'd one with a bigger flapper and new actuator but it was gonna cost like $3350 and that's if I removed the turbo and gave it to them for like a week, I cant afford the car to be off the road for that long stuff me round big time + then I need like $1000 for the new fuel pump and retune so was gonna cost like $4500

if this was as decriped I would have saved like $2500 but even if the gate mod costs like 1000 its still a lot cheaper than the alternative

ive decided that with the help of my bro(slightly mechanically gifted) and after being quoted 1200 to exchange the housing for one that's been moded that im gonna port the gate out properly and replace the flapper myself then buy a new fuel pump and install it myself than bolt the new turbo on

just got a quick Q's

were should I source the parts for the gate being in Townsville and what size

should I get a new actuator wanting to run between 16-19psi

do I have to machine the surfaces on the turbo to manifold and manifold to head

also whiles ive got the turbo off im going to fix a broken manifold bolt ( very rear bolt into the head)

its been broken for about 2 months now so ill be getting the manifold machined to be sure

ill have to get new manifold bolts new turbo bolts new gaskets for the turbo and manifold

new oil lines and water lines, fuel pump ( ill talk to the tuner about) and also a new pan and oil to service the gearbox

which ill be doing my self also,

so ive got my work cut out for me

lucky ive gotta bit of time off soon
