Anyways, got this from another forum..

"Four youths from Canberra, Australia pulled off a trick of breathtaking bravado in order to gain revenge on a mobile speed camera van operating in the area.

Three of the group approached the van and distracted the operator's attention by asking a series of questions about how the equipment worked and how many cars the operator could catch in a day.

Meanwhile, the fourth musketeer sneaked to the front of the van and unscrewed its numberplate. After bidding the van operator goodbye, the friends returned home, fixed the number plate to their car and drove through the camera's radar at high speed - 17 times.

As a result, the automated billing system issued 17 speeding tickets to

itself."

Some of replies suggest that this is an old story placed in another state. I suspect that it could be another urban myth. Would be kewl if it was true though. Give them a taste of their own medicine.

.... The cameras dont use radar anyway. Would be funny if it was but the vans always have at least 2 operators in them

if not radar, what then?

Also in VIC there is only ever one operator in the mobile tax vans.

Hey Velvet Glove, that's a crock, I have seen a sh*t load of mobile cameras that run with one operator, as a matter of fact I saw one today.

Anyway, "you an officer of the law" and if I dont agree I will be arrested and cornholed :)

Just a joke!

In Canberra, where VG works (and where the 'story' is set), they have little vans (like a delivery van) that only do speed check work. I have never seen such a thing in Sydney, or anywhere in NSW in fact. Maybe Queensland doesn't have them either?

Speed check work?

Don't use radars?

So the vans in canberra that flash at night as if they were taking your picture, don't issue speeding infringements???

*confused*

Can't imagine what else they would use them for... delivering donuts perhaps
