I have a BA XR6t and the motor shat its self so for the right price I managed to track down a FG NA engine, I transferred everything from the broken BA to the newer FG motor including all my mods (larger injectors, bigger turbo, cold air induction, inter-cooler, 3in exhaust) After it was all installed by my mechanic he sent me home to run it in and said to come back when id done 500km, then we'll do a performance tune.

apon returning and putting it on the dino to do a performance tune he could only safely get 180kW at 9 pound boost, when he tried for 11-14 pound the motor would knock so he backed off.

I thought a stock FG Na engine could get 195kW and from what ive read and researched it is possible to turbo the FG Na engine with good results

basically I have a performance car that's under preforming is there any reason for this to be happening??

Firstly I need someone else knowledge on this situation

I didnt get to speak to him, I only got told by the secretary. and he couldnt tell me why.

you would think he would know about the difference in compression ratios but he did not mention anything to me before we started would that be what caused the knock?

Possible.Trying to push boost in an engine that's running a higher compression ratio can cause detonation. You need to check out what the NA comp ratio is and ring a reputable performance shop to find out what how that setup should be doing .

everyone has told you mate, high compression = less boost before detonation

Doesn't the FG run Dual VCT?

Are you running the BA ECU Still?

It could be a variety of things mate. You need to take it to or talk to another tuning shop.Id also be looking at changing the compression ratio back to whats needed for turbo application.

We are all just speculating.
