Man...that sucks a big one!

I hate to say it but..........ok I wont say it lol

Bad timing I guess mate.....I had a funny feeling about the whole warranty thing? But if it is a genuine full fledge new car warranty....then Ford can get stuffed...cause pretty sure I read about a couple guys getting new gearboxes under warranty? Or maybe that is only for the first owner or something....

Anyways....all the best with trying to sort it out!

If they still don't play ball....you could go 2 ways about it....buy a low km second hand unit from the wreckers and MAKE SURE YOU BUY A PWR TRANS COOLER (or the Air to Oil trans cooler)

Or use this as an excuse to go the whole hog....billet input shaft, full rebuild, etc and then whack a big precision turbo and go for 500rwkw! hahahhaa

Good luck mate....hope the desired outcome happens for you :)

That's rubbish. Plenty of people have had the gearbox replaced under warranty due to milkshake.

Mine was replaced under warranty at 9000km and I had all the normal mods and 300+ rwkw.

It's a common issue.

Definitely dispute it.

I suspect the part about not covering "consequential" damage would be intended to cover a situation where for example your handbrake fails and the car rolls into something else and damage it.

I think repairing the hand brake would be the extended warranty, but other repairs should be covered by car insurance.

It makes no sense to me that you have a warranty for mechanical parts, but the dodge fixing the gearbox.

The warranty is a 3rd party one sold through the dealership on pre-owned cars.

The warranty exclusion they're using is "Any consequential loss, damage or liability incurred as a result of a mechanical failure (including personal liability)" They will cover the heat exchanger as it failed, Not the g'box because it failed because of the heat exchanger ie. consequential damage. Which to me is BS.

Ford Aust. denied an act of good faith and assist with the cost of the box as the car isn't covered by any warranty they say. The service guy called them on my behalf, I have no idea what he said to them. They haven't asked me for any info/history (Including Mentioned the g'box 'weirdness' at both services (Feb 14, Sept 14) service invoice says it's normal behavior). I mentioned I wanted their official word in writing (legal advice) I haven't heard from them in a couple of days now.

The pre-owned guys back dated the warranty so the level of warranty I wanted could apply, It says it started 6 months before I bought the car. So the sales guys dodgied up the warranty to get the sale. In two minds about whether or not I tell the warranty company it was back dated. This would do 2 things, Void the warranty with them & the start the battle of me trying to get my money back for the warranty & also the repair costs. Dealership is in administration/receivership so I'm looking a bit FUBAR on all front.s

The cost of the g'box repair will be from $6k-$8k. I'm hoping the megatronic unit isn't rooted, because that's up to $2k by itself. An independent g'box shop said they do the work for $6-$6.5k which includes a trans cooler bypassing the heat exchanger bullsh*te.

I'm going to do my best to make sure I don't have to pay for this from my pocket but it's looking more and more unlikely. I certainly won't be getting ford to change the box, I'll be taking to a place that knows what they're doing.......

Sooner it's fixed mean the sooner I can sell it and leave ford ownership behind me.

I can't fit an aftermarket transcooler because that would breach the 'warranty', according to the warranty book. Ford service guy even recommended it. What does that tell you about the stock setup.......

It all seems very BS. I think they're hoping I'd just accept it and pay the bill myself.

I've had a good read, thanks for that mate. I'll do some quoting in the letter I write them. Some legal letter head would look nice on it too.

Warranty company will no longer talk to me, everything has to be in writing now.
