The intend to wear you down and generally the hoops they make you jump through plus being without a car is enough to get most people to fold.If you have the time/inclination/resources stick to your guns mate.Also don't condemn the Aussie made car. Box aside the Ford Milkshake has been an issue for Ford before the ZF came along. The heat exchanger was still a problem here too.The car is nice enough, I just haven't really formed any attachment to it. I don't find as comfortable to drive as my Cruiser or my Celsior. The attempt by the warranty company to only cover the root cause of an issue is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read. Like if a timing chain guide failed they'd replace the guide but not the rest of the engine that's munched itself. I'd kick someone in the face if they suggested that to me. In fact if it's that easy to get out of claims, I'll start my own aftermarket warranty company and live rich.I hope you get a good outcome, don't let it slide, most aftermarket warranty companies will only cover the first x amount (say $1500) of a major repair but I've never come across one that's as petty as this. Therefore why it voids a new car warranty if you upgrade with aftermarket exchanger! So my point is, if it's part of the gearbox.....it fails......fix the whole thing!!!Dude that sucks! But I didn't expect was their blurry interpretation of a word.The g'box is associated damage, It's not a consequence. Running off the road and smashing through someones fence is a consequence, Having to hire a car is a consequence. Failure of a component which is required for the operation of another is a direct association with the original component failure. All your examples make sense to us normal people. Regardless of where the component is mounted. Its factory fitted, zf deems it necessary and every god dam drop of fluid runs through it. Its part of the box...allll day long.More to the point ford covers it under warranty, no floor mat excuses or anything.
