Whooby Member 35 Member For: 11y 2m 2d Gender: Male Location: Nomad Posted 29/09/14 11:49 PM Author Share Posted 29/09/14 11:49 PM Guys is this normal for stock suspension? I only had 7x11kg blocks in the boot and the control arm was touching the bump-stop. I didn't realise how low the stock spring rate was. I don't have much weight or adults in the back very often. Also something I've noticed with the boot light, So far the FG is only car I've come across that does this (My G6ET & Brothers FG XR6). The bloody boot light is linked to the interior light trigger!Example - My daughter is asleep in the car at night and I don't want to wake her up by all the interior lights coming on, But I need something from the boot. I open the door and then hit the button to turn the lights off while I have the door open. Then thanks to Fords wisdom(cheap/laziness) open the boot and all the interior lights come on. Anyone over come this? Made with laugh at how stupid it was. Thanks Ford.

Should be in the $650-$800 zone if you can find someone with cheap enough labour. Apparently people on here are saying 40,000kms max between services? I did mine at 90,000kms but may do it every 45,000kms for good measure

Just replacements.....

I think you can ring/contact Ford and they will be able to do a VIN check and see whether your car came with one or the other....(or you could just get under the car and look I think)....I think the metal pan is a $200-$300 or something? I was lucky and had one from factory, so they just charge you for a new filter; but if you have the plastic one you have to buy a filter/pan thingy which is obviously more expensive than just the filter. You may also want to factor in a PWR heat exchanger if you have the coin; I did it at the same time (otherwise you need to top up a further 500mls or something when installing it)....but they are around $800 ... search ZF milkshake if you haven't already; there's enough info to scare you into buying one soon enough hahahah
Whooby Member 35 Member For: 11y 2m 2d Gender: Male Location: Nomad Posted 30/09/14 10:47 PM Author Share Posted 30/09/14 10:47 PM Cheers mate, I'll check out the trans pan to see which type I have.I've read about the milkshakes (scary stuff, my G6ET is an update model (plastic cooler tanks etc.) so hopefully Ford fixed whatever was wrong to cause the milkshakes. But the car is under warranty till 2016. So if it happens before then it's Ford's problem, Not my coin.

Well here's hoping anyways

Whooby Member 35 Member For: 11y 2m 2d Gender: Male Location: Nomad Posted 11/11/14 08:37 AM Author Share Posted 11/11/14 08:37 AM Can anyone say Milkshake????Well I can, I am the unlucky recipient of a heat exchanger failure resulting is a FUCT gearbox. Happened on the way home just over a week ago, Driving in 'manual' mode the car decided to change to 6th by itself under acceleration. Thought I had bumped it so I went back to 5th, accelerate and it changed to 6th. Tried this a couple more time and them POW@!!@! Trans Failure warning up on the dash. G'Box now in limp mode.Towed car home that night to take to Ford on Monday morning. I assumed all would be fine, warranty would take care of any costs. Well wasn't I wrong.......Long story short is, Local service chump less than helpful, Warranty company only covering the heat exchanger, not G'Box because they don't cover consequential damage ie. the gearbox failing because of the heat exchanger. Service Dept. has a A4 page that reads "Falcon and Territory owners with ZF 6 Speed, We recommend fitting aftermarket transmission cooler. Only $750.00" This is an Oil to Air cooler, More $$ for turbo models. Oh yeah voids your warranty too. Thanks Ford!?Quote for repairs from Ford $6251.35 ($5005 for exchange box)So now I go to Ford thinking they'd take care of a customer (Car always had Ford services, 83000K's, No mods) But ohh no the warranty is now not valid because it wasn't extended for the manufactures warranty ran out. 'Trusty' dealer said they could back date it no worries, Part of the deal on the sale of the car.So now I'm waiting to dispute this with Ford Australia, Possible legal action due to the sale under false pretense from the dealer about the warranty (Waiting to receive a call to say my warranty is void and to rip it up).So for my very first Ford experience, once was 1 time too many.I'm expecting a thanks for calling from Ford about the whole deal and that I have to pick up my broken car from the Ford service dept. and get the box repaired myself. So now here is the question - Who knows a place that knows what they're doing with the ZF and can rebuild it for me? SE QLD. Elite Automotive?Cheers Guys.
