Trust me when I say this but if you spoke to Rob or darren they could have supplied and fitted for cheaper/same price as what youve paid. Specially with injectors.

Intercooler kit is probably the only thing you can save money on by fitting it yourself

As for valve springs and getting the wastage ported with a bigger flapper and actuator get Rob to do it. Most tuners really only like the rear housing done their way as they know its gonna be quality wise so they can control boost etc

Unfortunately all parts have been paid for and already on their way. I didn't actually get a per part quote from the guys at Monsta Torque, I just looked at the stage II package and sort of worked out it may be cheaper to source all the parts separately elsewhere, plus I wanted to add the air box and pump.

Will speak with the Rob or Darren in the new year to get quotes for the turbo mods and tune. Possibly might have to include labour for all my parts as by the sounds of it I can't install any of them safely without the tune.

Thanks for all the replies though, has been somewhat helpful.

does not matter who is tuning it, if the wastegate is being commanded to be fully open and the boost exceeds what is desired then the port needs to be done.

so what is the standard spring on an fg? and when tuning u can only double that ? true or false?

agreed , when my car was tuned , Autotech supplied my complete fuel system cheaper than what I could get it...... also if any thing was faulty, it was up to them to sort..

don't have the specs on the stock fg one but would think they are possibly around 6 lb or so, they can be more than doubled in the mid depending on set up

Yeah all good mate it's just I had a small drama with the rear housing I purchased off a site sponsor that was no good.. so ended up being 400 squiddies down for that plus my labour time installing it which was most of a day for Rob to end up modding my standard one and re-fitting it.

..no guesses as to whos it was. :)

PM me if you need to know roundabout prices for installing parts.

I installed most of my parts to cut costs and ended up costing me more in the long run.

Anything fuel related get them to do it. Exhaust installation is no more expensive there than any other exhaust shop, and valve springs are pretty much impossible to do without the 500$ tool

it's not really a runaway boost situation, as Ratter has said - It's poorly controlled boost.

This doesn't have to mean boost spikes

As Turboboink said, normally you get better prices from the tuners as the supply and "fit" the part. If there are any issues with the install, they have to fix it.

I know you have already ordered the parts and it is too late, but you would be better off getting them to fit it for you. If something goes wrong, they can sort it out.

Recently got my car done at MT and I cant be happier.
