Does My G6Et Really Require Replacement?

Check out forced performance. They do some Garrett based turbos with billet wheels that out flow gtx turbo's.

What the? Can we start another thread explaining why this is the case... Why is there no information on these turbos ? Why is GTX the more popular turbo if these billet wheels outflow Gtx's

GTX has been all the rage since they were introduced because:

A: they are a good turbo, and being a 'bolt in replacement' people jump on it.

B: Almost too cheap to be true (except the fact that you can probably double the price fter your finished doind what is mentioned above, flapper, front cover, boost niple etc.

C: Alot of shops are pushing them

D: people are lazy and jsut go with whatever anyone else says.

Have a read up, I did about an hours research and came up with 3 turbos clearly better than the GTX. There is now a precision bolt in replacement, HTA turbo cores ( forced performance ), MTA turbos

^ I agree 100% with your post bar the "clearly better" comment. What makes them better? There are many factors to consider when changing turbo's and level of support is a major factor for people that mechanically inclined The ability to have a Garrett repaired/serviced locally would make it clearly better than some of the other options for me being based in WA If I was not in a position to have the vehicle off the road. Having said that my next turbo will likely be a Precision or MTA (or a modded Garrett)

Sorry mate, should have been more specific. To clear it up for OP aswell, there is alot of factors to consider when youre looking for a new turbo.

Do you want to keep standard manifolds, in exchange just run more boost to achieve the power level OR run a bigger turbo at less boost

Do you want good response in exchange for loss in top end power?

Do you want a quiet or loud turbo when on boost?

Do you want to be dealing with overseas all the time or locally?

What are the after sales service like?

I see where your coming from, I was just saying there are other options, but not so mechanically minded people tend to listen to what others tell them when all it takes is a little research. Not taking away from the GTX at all, is still a good turbo, but again it depends fully on the the goals desired.

For example, I have no intention of running anything over 375~rwkw. I dont see the point on the street, however I dont wana loose the response of my baby turbo. This is why I researched and found out I am better off getting mine upgraded from one of these turbo shops ( Forced Performance, MTA) than changing to a 35r or bigger and I should achieve my goals pretty easily.

Reading your first post mate, I suggest looking for either a high flow version upgrade for the standard huffer, or a similar size billet version, no need to go bigger
