I sent MTQ all of the pictures above and they have replied saying its Genuine Garrett GT3582 made for FORD.

He did say that it was rebuilt and repainted, not factory new.

I got MTQ to put all the findings in a letter head and sent it to the guy on ebay.

I payed on paypal. If the guy doesn't pay up and say deletes his account or just doesn't respond after 30 days paypal pays you via their insurance of any item up to $1500.

I emailed the seller asking him to settle this out of paypal dispute first and that I would keep the turbo with a $700 refund. So see what he says..either way ill eventually get my money back.

I have retrieved money from pay pal protection in the past. It was like $100 though not $700 and the guy deleted his account and pay pal protection paid me out.

how long ago were you stung? Were you persistent with pay pal?

I'm fairly picky about people trying to screw me over and I will run it to the grave if I have to.

I have never been stung .. but I seen a few mates that have .... I hate paypal, once I sent brembo brakes to somebody.. (reg post) , they claimed they never had the brakes ,, so paypal froze my 2500 until I proved I sent them.. so from then on I made sure I removed the money asap, as a lot of ppl were using this to scam stuff for free,,, so again I had another person claim they never received an item and paypal had my account in negative and wanted me to top up my account ..... I just gave up in the end and refuse to use it...

I have used it quite a lot without issues. And when issues have occurred its been favourable to me. But like you have said I have had mates that have similar stories and have been stung. But then again they aren't articulate people and most of the time they probably got rid of evidence. As long as when you post stuff you get it registered and as long as when you buy stuff you buy express or registered then you can always have track of where its gone and been and with paypal if you always give the seller and or buyer enough information that they cannot come and bite you in the ass you never have problems.

In this case I have got MTQ to give me a letter head, I have perfect evidence of it being used not new, Paypal will see that and refund me. If he cannot refund me there insurance policy will.

but again in the case of forum classifieds I've never had issues and that has always been based on pure trust.
