Mine would be fine for first minute or two when the engine is cold and then kick in exactly as you said.As Mick said it could also relate to the timing jumping a tooth. Inlet cam timing solenoid or exhaust.I wonder if these faults always show up fault codes cause my FG does the rough idle in the morning then is fine after 20 seconds. I should also check the cam timing first I guess. Really rough idle, engine light, anything else to look for? They said it was possible that the cam had jumped a tooth, hopefully I'll have a full diagnosis by this afternoon. They mentioned that they had seen jumped teeth on the B series cars, not too many on the FG's though. Does your car consistently idle roughly after this happens or does the issue disappear after a restart? Ic0nic New Member 6 Member For: 11y 6m 28d Posted 02/12/13 11:39 PM Author Share Posted 02/12/13 11:39 PM Just heard from the mechanic. The car has indeed jumped a tooth (spot on ratter) and needs to be adjusted. The mechanic has recommended replacing the chain and the tensioner to reduce the risk of the problem reoccurring any time soon. Is that the usual fix?
