I had almost the exact same issue of which my mechanic had to replace the cam timing solenoid and phaser.

Mine would be fine for first minute or two when the engine is cold and then kick in exactly as you said.

As Mick said it could also relate to the timing jumping a tooth.

Inlet cam timing solenoid or exhaust.

I wonder if these faults always show up fault codes cause my FG does the rough idle in the morning then is fine after 20 seconds. I should also check the cam timing first I guess.

My bf f6 does it but only after ive hit the limiter in a gear then coming to a stop. Becomes very rough and wants to konk out. Any ideas?

I dropped my car to the mechanic yesterday afternoon to get looked at. They said it was possible that the cam had jumped a tooth, hopefully I'll have a full diagnosis by this afternoon.

They mentioned that they had seen jumped teeth on the B series cars, not too many on the FG's though. Does your car consistently idle roughly after this happens or does the issue disappear after a restart?

It does it for about 30seconds or so then sorts itself out !

some owners have complained about the power change or intermittent idle and we have picked up on the jumped teeth, one FG we had had a bad rattle but one FG had jumped 3 teeth and caused the light to come on intermittently

Just heard from the mechanic. The car has indeed jumped a tooth (spot on ratter) and needs to be adjusted. The mechanic has recommended replacing the chain and the tensioner to reduce the risk of the problem reoccurring any time soon. Is that the usual fix?
