They said it was illegal to temper with wheels and that there is a big chance the weld will crack?What's your thought and experience with widened rims? Alloy is a a bit harder, you need 4 wheels to make 2, so there is only 1 weld . How much power have you got? A lot of guys running 10's on 17".
