My mate just bought a monstatorque box here in canberra. They rate it to 700rwhp, supply the zf tune for it and will provide a 12 month/15,000km warranty. $5,250 inc post iirc. Can't remember if that's a cryo'd or billet shaft but the power rating is more than what he needs anyway so doesn't matter too much.

Local shop here gave me a rough price of $7-8k

No tuners in Canberra build boxes so don't have that luxury, but for the sake of $500, maybe even $1k if the tuner could build it and warrant it, then I would probably go with them

Or like Kosij said go th400 lol

Last I heard monsta do there own Cyro/custom shaft NON billet.

If looking at it this way, facor in say 2 remove & refits and oil charge because if warranty claim you then need to get it back to them so on a pallet she goes to the other side of Australia at your cost.

He's where the "dearer" local tuner now looks even cheaper :)

My stage 2 from CMS was around 5k installed with new solenoids. Not sure if prices have changed over the past 12 months.

Theres a place in Toowoomba called Gilroys Automatics that iv came across in my travels and research..

Heard very good things up here about their work and they are very cheap..

Not sure what shafts they have on offer to compliment their builds BUT they are very reasonably priced..

IIRC their full house build was just under 3K.. not sure when this was written and if things have changed

but its worth a call to find out I guess.. I would do it but im not there yet and dont like to hassle people about work I am not in a direct position to complete asap and prices can also change by then.. they are on my short list to enquire from when I do my box in the near future though..

I have spoken to pretty much everyone whom builds these boxes and from my research

  • Not all ZF builds are equal. The tune plays a good part in how the box will survive. Joe offered to send the tune file if I were to buy one of his boxes.
  • Exedy clutches are like $1200 here but can be bought for $600USD from the US.
  • Exedy clutches need mods to work - they don't just drop straight in like the video suggests.
  • There are all sorts of little mods done to the valve body to prevent trans oil from being in places it shouldn't be.
  • Most trans shops whom build them utilise extra OE clutches and thinner steels in their builds rather than the exedy kits

I will probably get Joe to do mine however it's a few more $$$ than I had originally hoped to spend - a few mates of mine have Gilroys boxes and they are holding up well to 450+rwkw and some 1/4 mile abuse (cryo shafts)
