Pretty sure cms wont give a warranty if zf tune is touched, or atleast by anybody but them. Also in my experience gearboxes aren't just the sum of their parts. Haven't had a built zf, but a couple of TH boxes and even a traumatic. I know it largely come down to who puts it together. Something to consider when handing over your hard earned. Id freight it to the other side of the country if I had to, just to be sure its sweet. You know how it goes poor man pays twice, or in the case of gearboxes, 2, 3, 4 times. Dunno maybe I've just had bad experiences. The traumatic in my 6cyl vk(so like 3rwkw...) I had built 3 times, the last time by a guy I worked with who was a fkn fibreglassoligist, did it at home, charged me bugger all, always chirped 2nd and I never had a problem with it. Go figure. Also go and have a chat to :-Autotech engineering,-Dominello transmissions -BTA motorsport . I completely forgot to ask BTA motorsport for their transmission prices when shopping around, there is a Fg F6 that is running low 10's on a BTA built gearbox and tuned at C&V performance Edited 23/09/14 08:11 AM by sct911

And the tuner is a *beep* for warranty.Iirc a built box from Cms was about $4500 and add $2K for billet shaft! Get the box from same shop as tuner or else warranty will be a bastard. I'm glad I had the dirty btr and went th400 because this zf crap is ridiculous the price for parts and servicing is crazy! I serviced my th400 for $80 Yeap while service $80!!! If you wanna risk paying more in the long run just do the wearing parts and risk the shaft or pay $6-7k now and not worry ever again

How much is a cryo shaft from CMS ?He's meaning he's trans shop will do the zf with the nizzy shaft for a cheaper price then cms's box built with only a Cyro shaft...I bet $1000 the 1000+hp clutches that Cms use and mods to the box would crap all over what that said trans builder does.... And then when your trans builder builds the box what happens tuning wise?

I think its safe to discuss ballpark prices now. The CMS billet shaft is going to be around the $1950 mark( nizpro shaft is $2300) , I was quoted $795 for a CMS cryo shaft. CMS stage 2 box with CRYO is around $5500 , that would mean that CMS stage 2 with BILLET should be $5500 + (1950-795) = $6655 I have already paid CMS $6k, that should mean I owe them $655 , ballpark figures, so plus or minus a hundred or two At least I have a piece of mind that the bloke that built my transmission is also the one that is tuning my car , and CMS is only 5 mins from my house. Also keep in mind that CMS do extra things like new solenoids and other modifications that others dont do, CMS stage 2 price isnt too bad IMO Edited 23/09/14 08:34 AM by sct911
