Hi guys I haven't had my car long but here is the run down:

BF XR6T

109000ks

Intake is k&n plus f6 lower intake from my old BA XT

X3 tuner running 10psi generic tune (came with the car)

Ok so that's what I've got so far.

So I sent iDyno at Tuggerah an email asking them for a quote on modifications and tuning with a budget of about $4000 and they got back to me with this :

Stage 1 option

Exhaust turbo back 4" dump 3.5" cat and 3.5" to the back $1850 fitted

Front mount intercooler fitted $500

42lb injectors fitted $600

Flash tune $800

Will give u 320 - 330 kw @ the wheels

Total $3750

Stage 2 option

Same as above except larger intercooler and piping kit would be an extra $1200

Regards

Brent Hakainsson

How does this sound to everyone? Do the prices seem ok and does anyone have any opinions on what mods maybe should be dropped or added for best results?

Are 42lb injectors up to the task I hear 60lb get thrown around a fair bit...

Is a 3.5" cat suitable for a system like this?

Any input is appreciated as I am really hanging to make a move on the mods :)

Sam

I use 42lb Bosch green tops, they are good for a high 11 no problem.

The stage 1 needs an intank pump replacement I reckon. Other than that, similar mods as me (nizpro cooler and stock crossover, full Manta 2x2.5" exhaust, 42lb injectors, intank pump walbro GSS294).

Which intercooler are they using though?

For $500 Monza?

You want a good intercooler mate..

Stage one cooler "seems" like it will struggle with 300+ so the bill will be closer to 5k and for 5 large I think there are better ways to go about mods

Not one single mention of a fuel pump is the major concern imho but if they "feel" they can extract the power for that $$$$ and list good on them as they do have a decent rep from what I know

Pump = compulsory. Better cooler a real good idea. Bosch green tops will be at the end of their game at 320. Add 500? for supply/fit new plugs and fuel filter if not already done. Exhaust size is okay.

You could just go the cat or cat/dump combo instead of turbo back exhaust. Money you save could be spent on a better cooler and better injectors.

Don't rush into it and do a bit of research on what mods suit your needs and power requirements for now and if you go chasing more power in the future .

And keep your options open as far as workshops go don't just go with what's close and convenient some time it pays to travel a bit to get what your looking for.

On the fuel pump front, I have a new drop in pump waiting to go that came with the car so that will be going in.

I was thinking about just doing the cat exhaust wise as its a lot of cash for the full exhaust, and go with the bigger intake/intercooler mod. Maybe rapid $1400 system.

How much power will the standard dump and exhaust with high flow cat flow? I don't want to delete the centre muffler.

Also has anyone done this? Just changed out the cat? How difficult/how much did the install cost at the exhaust place? I've seen the venom brand 5" cat with merger pipes on eBay for $650 but that seems pretty expensive for what it's is and I'd have to butcher it if I wanted to go to a full exhaust in the future anyway..

And 60lb injectors seem like a better idea to me incase I want more power in the future..

Rapid intercooler/intake mod?

Are you interested in getting these mods done, lets say, by the end of next year?

If you are NOT in a hurry, and enjoy being frigged around, and also love chasing up missing parts, rapid is for you.

Good thing you are not installing these parts. cause you wont get fitting instructions included either.

Rapid does not have a good reputation around here. Just because he is a site sponsor, doesn't mean the site endorses him.

I strongly suggest sourcing your parts elsewhere. You get what you pay for.

I have dealt with Kev from Process West - great bloke and got stuff to WA with no fuss or drama at all. ( And delivery over here can be a bit of a hit and get the sh1ts waiting for it.)

Injectors - I have 1000cc jobs in mine with less power than your are chasing and in every aspect they work great. ID 1000's very popular these days , but there are others of course.

100mm Dump with a (good) cat change with twin 63 (EG SMB kit) to the stock BF muffler system seems to be well capable of over 300rwkw - plenty of info in the threads on that and plenty of bolt in kits for that.

A straight out cat change - about 400 to supply and weld in - - and again, you get what you pay for in Cats.
