I got a nail in the left rear today ( ouch !! ) and took her down to get it fixed. I was informed that my rears were shot and that the front weren't far behind. So ... after around 38000ks, I've had to get a new set. This included 20 laps around Wakefield Park mind you.How is everyone faring ?? Guest Tarfoid Guests Posted 23/01/04 10:01 AM Share Posted 23/01/04 10:01 AM Is there any 'standout' tyre replacing the standard issue 17's?For me tyre wear is important to a point but not at the expense of ride comfort, braking performance, wet preformance etc. I heard there was a Motor or Wheels article on tyres using an XR6, does anyone have the results of this? Is it relevant or a contrived test to sell tyres and magazines.Tarfoid

Has been diagnosed as flat spots on the front tyres. Dealer is going to ring me on Tuesday but anything less than 2 new hoops ain't going to cut it.These SP3000's are getting a reputation and it isn't all good. Had every intention of replacing them with another set but not sure at this point. Wear is actually not too bad and with the current set I would have expected 35-40K out of them. This is due to the number dirt roads we have....you can stop quicker with locked wheels on dirt.

The SP3000's have been known to flat spot when cold (mind you mine don't get better after driving) and the sidewall cracks are also an issue (no sign of this with mine).I've been lucky enough to not have to engage the ABS on any surface and don't pull handbrake turns so I agree that this flat spotting is hard to explain. In any case, I can't really complain if the dealer offers to replace them gratis (not flog them to me).
