Work utes..

We have so many problems with tritons which turned me off them until one bloke bought one himself and all of sudden cared how it was driven.. Especially when cold..

He has no problems..

True sdp, how many utes have been mentioned on here that are not company cars? I took my dads work van out yesterday and thrashed the f*ck out of it, wouldn't do it to my own

I'm looking at 4wds around that 06 07 model and from what I have found is stay the fck away from d40s. Timing belt issues at 150k, crap dual mass clutches and my mate has done 2 head gaskets in the last 6 months all covered under warranty luckily. Hilux ftw. Buy a base model Sr, stick some flares a bit of lift and some at 33's and u will have a way better car.

Have a look into some bt-50s or a dmax

My old boss had a d40 v6 petrol and it needed a new gearbox before 50000kms and his mates diesel one had a major turbo issue

We have diesel hiluxs at work and I could never recommend one of them either, 2 of the 3 07 models have been rebuilt and they are constantly in for repairs

My dad got an auto bt-50 in march and it is an awesome Ute so far and my brother also has the older version which has been used on mine sites everyday for 150,000 kms and has only had a couple small wheel alignment issues because it cops a very hard time

I agree with most things you have said but the D-40,s run a chain not a belt and the comment about the hilux being a way better ute, well I nearly spat my coffee over the computer screen. :ermm:

Toyotas hilux are built no better then any other ute and are way under spec compared to the rest.

Hilux's under spec?

I see massive differences in the hilux spec sheet compared side by side to a D40!!!

Especially if scroll to the bottom and compare the price!!

Haha..

Personally does anyone else think that all the new 4x4 utes just look too nice to be bashed around off road..

Buy a brand spanking new great wall 4x4 freeze! Least you've got warranty for 3 years :-P

Most, if not all diesels from 06 onwards are common rail, and this on its own brings a new list of issues. DPF, fuel quality, and filtration, all manuals have dual mass flywheels, so you wont avoid that one.

Hiluxes have injector issues, fuel pump issues, the list just goes on. Dmax are supposed to be OK, Colorados made in Thailand as are Hilux, Ranger etc.

Buy an F250, Dodge Ram, or Chev Duramax. All your problems solved. :dancing:

Agreed the hiluxs have injector issues but that is simple fix imo. And again someone is comparing a work car to a privately owned car. The only way I would buy a d40 is find one with a diagnosed timing chain issue that is real cheap and then fit the dual row chain kit.

A mate used to have a Diesel D22, I would not recommend.

2 rear diffs and one front diff blown. Lucky all replaced under warranty. He upgraded just after the warranty ran out as he found out the injectors and clutch were pretty much gone at 80000kms.
