Just looked it up, the v6 is 196kw and diesel is 128kw. I dunno wtf I want now, I thought diesels were good on fuel?

Umm there is a v6 diesel. I thought 170kw. Which is now stx and st is the 4 cylinder diesel.

Our d40 is good on fuel. 8.8 l/100 highway. Around 15/16 towing a 21 ft caravan or car trailer. I've got 900k's out of my 22.

They have a v6 diesel aswell.

Like I said its around 170kw and 550nm.

Even the little 2.5 still produces 450nm of torque.

Auto,s in the D40 will use heaps more fuel due to the DPF system they employ and I mean HEAPS......The DPF block up and rob power and economy.

The manual versions don't have it,hense the better economy.I see around 10l/100k,s and 700 km,s out of a tank in a manual D-40 with the 2.5 diesel. It has heaps of torque to do what you want.Like I said, they are a little doughy off boost but so are all little diesels.Mate if you find a goood low k D-40 for the money then grab it.They are a good truck but like all cars, they have some little issues..

Iv got a 2013 D22 with a diesel chip and a 3 inch exhaust and it goes hard! A lot more power compared to when it was standard. I manage to get around 900-950km out of a tank if I'm cruising under 2k (70-80kph) and on the high way at 110kph I get about 700km.

Cost me $107 to fill the tank up yesterday. Pretty good fuel economy if you ask me?

We have 3 2007 D40's at work. All three have been nothing but dramas - all have had engine rebuilds, one of them twice, issues with brakes, engines regularly going into limp mode and having to be reset.

Not trying to put you off, just letting you know my experiences with them.

I think I jinxed myself by posting this yesterday. Trans went in one of our work d40's today.

I was going to get a wildtrak, but had to wait too long. Ended up getting a bt50 GT with all the fruit and I'm loving it.

I work on heaps of D40s that see regular mine use. They have really weak rear suspension mounts for the shockies on the diff housing. We are constantly welding them up with beefier bracing. They are gutless and have heaps of transfer case problems and the rear wheel speed sensors are in a vulnerable position if going off road.

The new Rangers are even worse, with some utes having up to five engines put in them. We tow at least one ranger a week back to the dealership if not two at a time.

Are you serious? What is going wrong with the ranger engines? And what the hell are people doing with them to do that.

Flogging the sh*t out of them. They dont own them.
