nissans are unreliable and tourqueless we had a couple at work one did a head and the other had massive clutch handbrake and driveline issues and did a turbo though they were 3lts all our Toyotas we have hiluxs and landcruisers are reliable and go harder you get what you pay for.The only good nissans are skylines, gtrs and silvias etc or the old 4.2lts

The navara is suppose to be the most powerfully work ute. Burr. Would love a new ranger wildtrak, or a hilux but there both out of my price range

The current hilux is more reliable and goes harder?

Sorry mate. They are built no better then any new Nissan plus are way underpowered compared to the current nissan line up.Your also comparing the old ZD30 motor in the old D-22 version.

And you are talking Nissan V6 turbo diesel, not 2.5 4cyl. Most of these utes are made in Thailand these days, so quality is so so.

Most common rail diesels have their own issues, unless you have very good fuel, and a 2nd fuel filter, expect to be digging into your pocket on a regular basis.

Though I have been told by a Nissan mechanic to go to the D-22

It's funny you say that, I had our local Nissan mechanic say the same. "get a 22, the d40 will be back with problems".

So I did, I've got a 22 and my dad has a d40. The d40 is twice the dual cab the 22 is. Sits on 120 no drama, beautiful to drive long distance. The 22 is a lot more ruggered, and it should be, they are a bloody old Ute.

In saying that, the d40 has done a clutch, head, and a lot of little problems. I explain it as "the best dual cab we've ever had and the worst.

No..

I always found turbo diesel 4wd utes to be reasonable on fuel.. But still not cheap.. Quite often we run 12-14L/100km in our work utes..
