Dunno if I've mentioned it but I'm thinking of getting a 07+ navara d40 st-x. The few good ones with low kms have sold within a couple of days which I'm spewing about, hard to find one with no more then 150k km for 20k or under.
I found one with 100k km with a few mods and want to know people's opinions on if they would buy a 4wd that's been bush bashing already?

Car has to be auto and diesel.

Get a proper check done.. RACV or equivalent..

We've got a couple newer D-40's at work.. One has 250k under its belt and still going strong.. Both are manuals though..

In my eyes if you wanted dollars for low k's and off road, look at D-22.. No auto though..

Don't like the look of the d22 and I CBF with manuals anymore hence why I'm getting rid of my car ATM. The manuals also have clutch problems I've read. I've missed out on a 08 with 119k km for 18k which was sold in 3 days and one listed the other day was a 10 with 47k km for 23k. They pop up every couple of weeks but don't last long

Dunno Ralph, havnt been since Tuesday lol

D22 is definitely more off road ready.. D-40's have a couple known problems with the front diff.. But usually takes some fairly decent off road use for that to be a problem..

If I had to choose a next car that couldn't get me in much trouble with the police.. A D-22 or D-40 would be on the cards.. You'll miss the falcon on long drives though..

We have 3 2007 D40's at work. All three have been nothing but dramas - all have had engine rebuilds, one of them twice, issues with brakes, engines regularly going into limp mode and having to be reset.

Not trying to put you off, just letting you know my experiences with them.

^^ I've heard horror stories but never actually met anyone who's had a problem with one..

Though I have been told by a Nissan mechanic to go to the D-22

We had 15 at our depot now down to 13. As you said engine rebuilds, one blew a trans, multiple limp modes. CRAP!!!!. hopefully some one crashes mine and I get what we're getting now. RANGERS.:D

D-22 suffer front diff failures if thrashed(personal experience) and use the same YD 25 engine but with different turbo. We have 3 D-40 navaras at work.2 are manuals and 1 auto.Mine has had 80k trouble free but the auto is a dog of a thing.Dont recommend the auto,as they use heaps more fuel then the manuals and the tranny and converter are not mated to the torque of the engine but as said the manuals suffer clutch issues if used hard and are known for dropping timing chains and lunching the motor.I would recommend it for a cheap 4x4 ute but the little 4cyl struggles off/low boost. We just bought a V6 diesel Navara.Much better engine then the 2.5litre 4 cyl.

I still wish I bought the Ranger..
