G day all,

Putting my car in for first custom tune. The work to be done is as follows;

Herrod cold air intake

ID 1000's,

Process West Stepped Cooler

Xcal and custom tune plus the usuals.

PWR ZF Heat exchanger.

I've been advised to leave the cat as stock as the OEM one on the 2011 G6ET does not pose a restriction.

The restriction ring has already been ground out.

I'd like hear people's thoughts on this and in particular if people have had custom tunes on OEM cat and then replaced after, with what results.

Thanks

Hey mate seems like a very similar setup to my g6

Check out the sig for what I've done to it but my best piece of advice is to get a 4 inch dump and 100cpi cat may not add that much extra power but with the stock turbo you'll get a lot more response

Well I was originally going to keep the stock cat back but I went with the X force 4th dump and cat and 3 1/2 cat back

Made 285 rwkw, that may seem low but dat response is better than v8s I have owned, but the fail bay cooler was holding it back (got an insane amount of heat soak on a not so hot day) currently back at cms for a process west stage 2 core and e85 tune

Anyways the zorst is louder but only if you give it a boot full. Around town with music on you can't even notice it

And if you guys want any help getting parts I got all my stuff pretty damn cheap

For what it costs I would definitely be upgrading the cat. For a bit over $500 installed you can get a bolt in cat that will get you well over 300. You've already spend good money on other parts so don't want to go tight on something you should need. I learnt this the hard way..

^what he said

I learnt my lesson with the fail bay cooler

Although my zorst and id1000s of there are top notch

It's very hit and miss

Also get the dump done as well it's not all about the dyno figures response is more important at our power levels

I'm all for replacing the the cat.

Just going on the tunes advice. In two minds about trusting tuner or going with all the advice I've seen on this forum over the years.

Who is your tuner
And if you're chasing more power and response the dump will have to be done at some point but the cat is a good place to start
