I'm after some personal/professional opinions on weather or not I convert my XRT to a manual or will the 6 SPD auto fit without too many hassles?

What's my best option? Keeping in mind I'm also in the process of pumping some power into it.

How much power? Anything over 300-350rwkw can be dicey with a BA bottom end and spending the dosh on a conversion only to have the engine blow would be, at the very least, heartbreaking.

Best bet would be to sell up and buy a BF mkII with either the manual or auto 6speed you are after.

That way you have a stronger bottom end an the transmission of choice and none of the headaches that go along with going a conversion.

What trans do you have now?

The btr 4 speeds can be built, the T5s are pissweak and have been known to break at stock power levels when loaded up in 4th and 5th gear.

What satisfies you now may not in 6 months time. Most here rarely stick to one round of mods and soon the bug bites to chase more power!

More than it's worth. You would need to buy a BF 6Spd wreck

T56 Speed manual conversion can be done for less than 4k these day.

Keep the car. It is the best colour Ford ever produced.

IMHO hold off on the transmission. Rebuild the 4 speed if and when it needs it.

The money you save on the auto will be enough to pay for all your performance parts to get you safely to the limit of the BA bottom end.

You can speak to some potential tuners for their advice too as, at the end if the day, they are the ones who will have the final say on what kind of reliable power you car will comfortably produce and what it's limitations will be.
