Bit of a back story as to why... My uncle has had two ba V8's that have both been tuned by the box's standard tunes and has never had dramas. So when I tell him and my old man about wanting to get a custom tune done for around $1400-$1500 they say I'm stupid and it's a waste and they've already got tunes in them! I never had a leg to stand on, now I've got info! A bit of reading online will show that this isn't always safe..Seen quite a few horror stories there..In saying that though a turbo car is subject to a whole lot of different stresses/tuning requirements so the need for a tune to be car specific is alot higher than the V8 boys who are just getting tuned for a new air intake and a big exhaust.. Just tell them you'll get a generic tune if they pay for a new motor when it goes bang lol Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/86739-generic-tune-vs-custom-tune-whats-the-real-difference/page/2/#findComment-1439372 Share on other sites

Might cost you the same money give or take $100-$200.am I reading "custom tuned" but flashed to the ecu, without xcal. No swapping tunes, but you rarely need that in my experience.
