After approx 10000kms, I just wore out a set of QFM A1RMs http://qfm.com.au/page/6/Performance_Range on the front (stock rotors), stock Ford pads and rotors on the rear. Braided lines all round.

Verdict:

About the A1RMs have same friction as the stockies when just warm, but as we all know, the stockies go away when hot, but you will be hard pressed to fade the A1RMs on the street or hills driving - I tried !

BTW, all FG owners need braided lines, the stock brakes are like standing on a pile of marshmellows, in comparison.

Yep, QFM A1RMs squeal like a pig for the first couple of weeks then go quiet. Lots and lots and lots of dust ! May as well paint your wheels brake dust colour ! Also eat the disks a bit too - recommend them on cheaper rotors ! - unfortunately, there is no free lunch.

BTW2, my brake specialist guy says that all rotors preform pretty much the same on the street. so given that performance pads eat the rotors, could be best to stick with the cheaper stock rotors. BTW4 - the stock Fg XR6T rotors are built like the DBA 4000 T3 rotors, just without the slots.

note, the A1RMs are rated @ 780°C vs 550°C for the HPXs

BTW3 - make sure you also get suitable extreme temp fluid if you are running your brakes this hot, I did.

I have just ordered a set of Ferodo DS pads (front) and will fit them in the next few days - I expect them to perform much like the Bendix ultimate - ie, could have low friction when cold - I will know soon.

I took my DS pads out after 10000km and put in Ultimates. I do prefer the ultimates, they just have more initial bite than the DS which is most important to me. I've used nothing but ultimates ever since they were released but thought I would try something else hence the DS.

The Ultimates also maintain the runout on the disc as they are so aggressive. For me this is good as I usually use two sets of ultimates to 1 set of discs without any machining over the life of the disc and never a pulsing pedal.

I found the DS not aggressive enough on the discs and would not clean up the slight runout that the front disc had, but the ultimates would have cleaned up.

You need a pad that is aggressive enough to machine the disc to keep it true. Pads that are too gentle on the disc just cause disc runout problems.

The downside is the dust though.

Replaced the stock pads/pads on my FG XR6T with Bendix Ultimates and T2's

Absolutely hated the bite and slow stopping on the stockies - the Ultimates fixed it 100%

Bit of dust and a bit of squeal when slowing to a stop (but it goes away for a while with some heavy breaking), but I wash the car often enough that the dust is a sign that they're doing their job rather than annoying.

I do still need to find a long, empty road to bed the brakes in properly though - will be interesting to see how long til the squeak returns after.

I destroyed my brake pads on the track and needed some immediately and the only thing I could grab on a Sunday was Bendix General CT. They are awful. Do not get.

I cheaped out and bought some QFM HPX on my STI and they are terrible too. Ferodo DS2500s were so much better,

Has anybody tried the ebc red stuff pads? I have braided lines and am looking at t3 rotors and either ebc red stuff or bendix SRT pads. Just want something that will take a beating and keep working. I'm not concerned about dust and I know they will never stop as well as brembos ect. Just after consistency.
