I got over 100,000km out of my DBA4000s. Had brake shudder and stuck these in which reduced it a lot (then did bushes to stop it properly). Driving to work was 50% highway distance. Plenty of urban stop start during work hours. Various pads used, Bendix General CT at first, then, QFM-HPX, then current pads the Remsas. Think that was all.

Replaced them with the DBA4000 T3's but only had those on a few months, took them to Racewars for some 400/800/1000m racing and replaced with Brembos afterwards :)

Big fan of my DBAs, even though they cost more.

On my BF mk2 I had the RDA golds.. Never once vibrated and could not fault them. 30000ks and were sweet as. Also bedding in the brakes has a lot to do with it, and cleaning hubs once the disc is off.

From what you have said I wouldn't be getting drilled rotors if I were you. Being that you aren't racing etc you should get away with the slotted type disc just fine with no problems (this will save you money also as drilled normally cost more). As for which disc between RDA or DBA I can't say, I have just purchase a set of DBA 5000 series slotted rotors to be fitted with some Brembo's but I only got those due to my wear area requirements for the Brembo's that aren't actually off a falcon (slightly larger pads). For your type of driving I would expect probably more than 60,000K life out of the disc depending on how aggressive the pad you use is.

Also for brake fluid, I would stick with a decent DOT 4 over the 5.1 due to the hygroscopic (spelling?) nature of 5.1. And with some investigation there are DOT4 fluids that have temp ratings very close to the 5.1 so they have improved a lot over the years.

As for braided lines, do them. The factory lines as they get old bulge under the pressure and heat reducing brake effect.

100000kms is pretty damn good....I just need to see someone saying they got more than 50000kms from slotred rdas then I might try it lol im all for the better performing parts, budgets too tight atm and if they dont work then ill know what to get next time

the price difference is just too ridiculous...I feel like t3's will be under utilised for the way that I drive

good picture but :) I was gunna try the hpx and remsa pads but matt rekons they are pretty dusty and the brembo pads will be better? Also which bushes did u do exactly? Upper and lower arm camber bushes? And rear camber bushes for when I put sssl in them? Prob wrong guy to ask but do u know if you need to drop the diff to do rear camber bushes? Or is that only if you put in adjustable rear camber arms?

Im getting it done at a brake specialist, so I will ask Whether they clean the hubs properly (I assume with a steel brush thingy)...but if they are professional enough I would imagine that will definitely be part of the process :P

Speaking Kathy from rapid rs and she said the only difference with the goldies is that they stop corrosion more? Might be worth they extra 100 bux.

I will evaluate the prices when I get them all...I think gold passivated slotted and dimpled in 322mm F and 328mm R is $490+90 delivery (WA = extra lol) and I think without gold stuff is $380...if I'm going RDA I may as well try not to stinge out too much? I'm asking if they can do the standard 8 slotted ones in the gold stuff (which I'm thinking they should be able to do).

Can you explain the DOT 4 over DOT 5.1? I thought 5.1 is better cause it can handle higher temps? what's a good example of DOT 4 high temp? Penrite brake fluid? Nulon? IDK any brands but again I thought 5.1 was the way to go?

Sounds good man! I'm speaking to that Kathy now and trying to get all the prices sorted....hoping they can do the gold passivated slotted only. If not I might commit to the dimpled and slotted (at least there designs are cooler and maybe more efficient I.e. they put 1 line of dimples, then 1 slotted line and interchange that all the way around. With some other ebayers I've seen 2 rows of dimples then 1 slotted and even ones that had 4 rows of dimples and then 1 slot which only gave 3 slots on the whole disc LOL

At least now there's been a few on hear who have had decent experiences with the RDA's :)

I run rda slotted (cheap ones) and afm pads. rotors last 2 sets of pad befor they are truly destroyed (almost no slottedness left)

they hold up pretty well - good fluid makes a big difference

I run standard rda rotors and qfm hpx on my Vx ss and absolutely love it, no problems what so ever. I plan on running the same combo on the BF(maybe slotted and dimpled rda's instead though) when the bank accounts looking a little healthier

Steve may have got 100k, but we used DBA 4000 and PBR performace pads and discs were undersize in 20K. This was the pad not the disc. There is a big difference in quality in the RDA. The GOLD slotted and dimpled are the ones to get if you want RDA. For normal street driving I would get DBA T3 with bendix ultmate pads, if you want less dust get EBC RED.

I had slotted DBA front and rear with Bendix pads.

Were good, but had to machine them quiet often.

Now I got cross-drilled slotted RDA front and rear with Greenstuff pads.

Fk3n awesome. Have lasted for a while no without machining and hardly any brake dust.

Got the whole setup for $550

Ive got the RDA's on the fronts and DBA on the rears using Bendix SRT. Seem to be good so far and even with a track day
