I'd just say better than some.. Engineering term of success and safe.1)- prove to no doubt by calculations that the machine or process will never fail till x no. Of cycles.2)- prove via existing service that it is safe to x no. Of cycles. Therefore u could say something is safe. But everyone can and will interpret that term differently Engineering Safety:Calculate required load with factor of safety to account for the required life of the asset + 20 years.Talk to government accountant.Remove additional 20 years from calculationTalk to government accountant.Halve the required life of the asset and remove factor of safety.Talk to government accountant.Agree to file a form 15 that states that due to financial constraints you have designed an asset that may or may not fall down next year.Spend the next 18 months watching the news hoping you ain't going to prison.. Pretty sure they just run less timing and limit RPM.

rockafellqeinstien Member 325 Member For: 16y 7m 10d Posted 31/10/13 08:11 AM Share Posted 31/10/13 08:11 AM (edited) Ok, I have a question - what would it take to make a ecu/tune that close to the limit safe.obviously a Ethanol sensor would be a startthen maybe a wide band afr guage on every cylinder (with a ecu and tune that can use it)knock sensors on each cylinder (is that posible)direct injection for better measurement?bunch of safty equipment (like presure relief valve .......)if you had a ecu that could use all that stuff (and maybe other stuff) could you theoretically set it up to run close to the edge and not worry about changes in fuel density/octane and other mishaps?Id be interested in the AMG45 set up - 250kw out of a 2ltr = 500kw out of a 4ltr????? and 26psi stock?
