Flaps are fun on some things...but cars, not so much.

If you're dead set on keeping them consider some sort of barrier between thme and the paint. Not sure what would work though, I'd imagine some sort of thin metal spaced from the paint with no more gaps or something hahaha. Dunno if anything like that exists pre made, but it would need to stop dirt getting caught on top of the paint anywhere.

I can get some rubber tape from work to stop the damage but after seeing where they were digging into the paint already I've removed them.
It looks kind of strange to me without them but I probably just have to get used to it.
I don't know why Ford didn't use some sort of rubber between the mudflaps and paint to start with :censored:

That would cost money :)

Grit would get in there anyway unless it was stuck on

I'd be scared of pebbles and sand finding their way in there over time and rubbing through the tape.

But the point is moot anyway as you say...once the flaps are off... :)
