What about using that new ring road in Melboune?. Make a great headline

"Falcon clocked at 300 KPH". That will really prove the radars are out!

BTW no Falcon is a good place at 200 KPH let alone 300KPH and I really wonder what the importance of this test is for.

I am sure the feeling of accelration that 385KW will give will more than outweigh the top speed.

Peter, I would put a strap from the head rest to the mirror to avoid the seat back collapsing under the first Dump of the clutch!......

Dallas,Loved your post I am on the floor in fits of laughter, could you imagine the look on the officers face as we blast by at 300kph. Might be worth the loss of my licence , that is if he can catch up.

The thing is, you can have as much power as you want, but at higher speeds coefficient of drag (wind resistance) has much more influence on the top speed than the amount of pwoer the car has.

As power increases the top speed will increase, but in a diminishing returns, almost logrithmic fashion..

I remember reading somewhere the as your speed doubles your wind resistance increases by a factor of 8.

So you will need a lot of herbs to get 300 out of a Falcon.

The fastest I can get my T is an indicated 225. Over 200 it still had reasonable throttle response and the handling was quite stable.

Contrasting several other types of cars (older Falcons included) I have driven at over 200. Most get to 180 quick enough but take eons to hit 200 and some get very light in the front end.... scary stuff.

what speed do you guys think the T will run.

And by the way what top speed have run in the T.

hmmmmm, absolute top speed is not as satisfying as the speed the car gets to with a decent push in the back. I love this car.

Stock std turbo auto ute, (with rear hard cover) gets to indicated 220kph in no time.

It gets to limiter not too long after that (indicated 240 kph)

Very stable at over 200 kph, but it is quite thirsty at that speed.

( saw fuel consumption readout was over 50 litres / 100 km)

Of course, this was done on a closed section of private bitumen :oooh:

Peter, If you can get to 260 kph with a decent accelleration rate, it'd have to put a smile on anyone's face. My guess would be you'll make 280kph.

By the way, what tyres will you run?

Narrow tyres with lots of air pressure make my efforts on the push bike a bit easier. Reduces frictional loading significantly.... but in the Phase III, it would compromise stability at > 200 kph I would imagine.

Good luck with the run. :banghead:

6000rpm in fifth gear with 3.46 should be about 290. Lift the rear end to 3.23 and expect to see 310. High speed harmonic whip will destroy the driven fifth gear in your T5 after about one minute of this though, if the torque load or heat doesn't kill the box first.

Add some nice Lowenhart 23" rims and rubber and it should make it to 320km/h in theory, wouldn't you reckon? :banghead:

I reckon you'll do 296 as you stated you can't reach 300. I've done 230 on that private road near home.

Good luck Peter, don't pharrk up at those speeds :banghead:

CV8 moanaro's are supposed to have a top end speed of 270km/h so maybe with the right gearing 300 is achievable in the T

I would suggest 280km/h, I assume that you have removed the speed limiter?  I also assume you are testing at a private venue :P

Yeah, I think your pretty close to the mark,we are in the process of deleting the speed limiter not sure where the testing will take place.

it would be nice if the deleted speed limiter was removed as part of the phase 3 package :banghead:
