Hi all

I'm new to the forums page, I'm 18, and I own a mercury silver xr6 turbo stock as a rock, it's got a capa flash tuner and an f6 typhoon intercooler. 4sp auto. I'm just wanting to know is the stock Bosch bov ment to flutter when I let my foot of in first and 2nd in sports shift? It flutters pretty loud, and I'm thinking the previouse guys have blocked it but unsure. And also I'm ordering a growler cold air intake for it. Is it possible to get my xr6 t tuned even though it's fairly stock? Or does it need to be tuned for the new intake anyway?

Thanks guys big help.

Doesn't need a tune for the intake. The growler is also a waste of money. Does the same job as a typhoon 2nd I take

Intake = no tune required..

This is assuming it's been tuned for the larger cooler..

Blow off valve, some will flutter when tuned even if they haven't been blocked off..

You'd want to do some reading around here and decide what you want before taking your car in for tuning. More mods before first tune = less times retunes are needed... Maybe even research your choice of intake?

But capa flash tuner I wouldn't trust.. Id be trusting a dude with a dyno I can actually talk to..

But welcome, nice car, and have fun..

Edit: bugger me.. I just got pipped in response time by the slowest bugger on the forum..

Dags_dk apparently..

Ohh thanks mate big help, yeah I just wanted to know, cause it flutters. Sounds neat, but I heard blocking them isn't good for the engine and car, it can cause backfire which reforces the air back into the engine. But because it's my daily, I noticed she's a lot heavy on fuel. I know as much as these cars are nice machines, I'm also aware that there not your average fuel bargins. But in saying that, mine uses a lot more then average, and I don't even drive in sports shift much little loan put my foot down as I'm only on my p-plates, so I might need some help there. I admit, I respect my car, and because I paid for it with my own money no loan, no finance, no "daddy's" money, you could say I'm fussy and am very proud to be able to own one of these espeacially it being my first car.

I would just check under your cross over to see if the previous owner has blocked off your BOV.It should'nt flutter standard.

Oh and welcome. :wwww:

Yeah mate it's understandable.. Most of us want to protect what's ours..

How heavy on fuel are we talking? and have you measured at the bowser? or are you trusting the computer in the car to tell you?

I had quite a lot of things up that I've replaced to get my fuel down.

Definitely start setting a trip meter for a full tank of fuel then when you refuel you can see the amount of litres you got for a certain amount of kilometers exactly.
