I am running a generic email tune with success so far, I understand it is not Perfect but it works and for my own reasons im still running it (12 months so far). 3 tunes were emailed to me by Intune for $220. 'Most' tuners when they tune the have a base tune that they have created to match certain mods, they then tweak it to suite your car, it all comes for years of tuning and gathering data and what not from the cars they tune themselves. So this tune will run in your car just not to it's full potential. If you do what you say and just load the tune so you can drive the car to get the custom tune then I don't see any problem, except trying to convince your tuner to send a base tune to you. You may be able to pay a certain amount as a deposit or contact intune or someone similar to see if you can get an email tune just so you can drive down to your tuner My 2cents anyway Joe

Asking intune for a generic tune is like asking a hooker for an std. Each to their own though.

MA91CK billet turbos and weathered engines dont mix Donating Members 1,346 Member For: 12y 6m 24d Gender: Male Location: Wollongong Posted 22/10/13 08:37 PM Author Share Posted 22/10/13 08:37 PM I never suggested running a generic tune forever, just that it is another option so he can install everything himself and drive to his tuner, just to save on labour costsThis was exactly my intention. But I can understand why people are saying dont skimp out on stuff things like that. I know I initailly said that it would be ideal to be able to just do logs and e-mail them, I still meant I would be prepared to pay. Like you said, its to save money on labour. Frustrating because I am quite capable to do it myself, but have to pay someone to do it. Just a word of warning, you wont get the greatest replies regarding intune, they dont have the greatest of reputations around here haha. Id still strongly suggest monitoring your AFR's and boost even though you have ran it for 12 months!

I havnt heard the greatest things about itune either but from my experiences I am happy and confident with his product, I'm not going to bag someone just because everyone else does. Anyway good luck mate Joe

turbotrana Member 2,586 Member For: 21y 8m 16d Gender: Male Posted 23/10/13 01:08 AM Share Posted 23/10/13 01:08 AM Your stock tune is a generic tune. There is nothing wrong with a generic tune. Every factory car comes out the same and you just plonk the same tune over and over again. No need to check anything.A workshop can create a generic tune for their own recipe. Put this injector in, this intercooler, this exhaust and this tune on this model and it should be fine. It should be fine with a competent tuner that is. Most tuners put their Generic tunes in and just check it on the dyno. Not all tuners are competent, not everthing has been tested properly so largely you are pissing in the dark with a generic tune. But in saying that there is quite a large tuning window where the engine will run fine and not cause damage so you can get away with it. But then you get people like the Wog running too much timing and it might. If its a new virgin car then you can do this. Once its gone thru a few hands it becomes problematic. At the end of the day you need to do some timing/airfuel ratio and boost checks to make sure its close to where it should be.
