I'm curious as to why the xr6 crew is so intent on dyno time. I understand a generic tune is not going to be good at all, but I mean running logs which you send to a tuner that can be tweaked then loaded back onto the unit? My mate has been doing this on his wrx with no dramas, just loghing runs on a peivate road and sending them to a bloke in SA. near perfect idle, running and afrs, fueling timing and boost is all safe too.

Am I missing something? Like we can't do this with our SCTs?

Pretty sure a few people had done this in the past - maybe "FSIX" on here? I think Autotech in Sydney did his tunes and he is in Melbourne.

Simon from XFT may have done this at one point too - might be mistaken though.

The only thing that is a worry is that if the car isn't exactly as described by the customer the tune could be wrong and the potential for damage on a street run without any live AFR logs etc could be a worry...

Yeeeeeears ago, when HPF screwed me over, I was sending them my box for them to update the tune, and then they would send it back.

Eventually I gave up.......

Hell no, it would be S&J as they are the biggest Subaru tuner in Australia, yet they don't even have their own dyno they hire one so email tunes are kind of normal business for them

Email tuning is like phone sex. It may sound hot, but you never know what you are really getting.

I apologize if this is someones wife or girlfriend, but come on, she is ugly as f*ck.

No no not dissing SA, apparently this bloke is a proper tuning freak. Does it for free too. I couldnt belive my mate when he told me. Ratter, he has sent full table of logs off to a tuner and got them looked at, but im just going off his word. I have a wideband AEM afr meter with logging and so does he, so we can atleast monitor that and boost. he has had a full turbo/exhaust/intake/intercooler/injector change, has something like 220rwkw at 19psi in a bug eye, which isnt slow and has been running that with consistent 12.6-12.8 AFR's @ full throttle for 3 months now

I ask this because as you all know time constraints with work, Im changing turbos soon and im wondering if its possible to get a base tune done for a turbo and injector change, so I could atleast baby it to my tuner which is atleast an hour away, or even better get a base tune and go from there, logging myself. plus id have to find a way to egt up there drop y car off and get back, instead of having everything done and just going up to get the tune done. I can do the work myself so it just frustrates me that I will have to go and pay someone to do it.

It's ok in the N/A world tunes like that.. My first ls1 tune was a mail order done by Oztrack.. Really never had a problem.. But once into forced induction and Fords you cannot beat custom.

Oztrack still do mail order tunes. Alit of the ls1 guys swear buy it.. My SS with mail order on the VX ran 222rwks.. But once we custom tuned it ran 236 rwks with the tune nothing else.

Unless you have a LS based engine I would say yeH go for it.. But turbo and Ford only way is custom
