Good evening. Hope this is the right place to put this post..

I have an XR6 Turbo BA 2

On a couple of occasions it has stalled. Once re started the revs hold at between 2000 to 3000 rpm at idle or even when on the M2 I didn't have to use accelerator! it just pulled along at those revs! Problem was it kept those revs at traffic lights or in slow traffic..

Once turned off and re started problem went away. This has happened twice one 6 months ago and once yesterday.

I disconnected battery any way to reset ecu.. not sure if that does anything

Anyway thanks for reading

I have only had this happen only twice in the last year. It stalls then revs like crazy. Then turn it off and its as good as gold once started again.

I wont worry until it becomes more of a problem! After 175k things cant always be perfect..

Thanks for your info.

Maybe take off the crossover and turn key on a click to get power, see if the butterfly moves smoothly according to pedal input.

I can't recall 100% but I think the trick of holding the throttle FLAT and turning the car over (it won't start) is the reset for the TPS, won't help if the unit is buggered of course. Not sure how long you need to crank it for, I'll see if I can find out.

Ah there ya go then, cranking is not to be done. From reading a few bits of my manual I found it's for clearing a flooded engine

To assist in clearing a flooded condition, the PCM
disables the fuel injectors if the throttle is held wide
open during Crank mode. It is possible this may
introduce a DTC, P1124. If this is the case clear the
DTC and proceed with a KOEO and a KOER test.

That sounds pretty scary, what if it decides to floor it all of a sudden?

Should get it to a mechanic that knows his Fords. Might put you into a tree otherwise.
