nelsonian101 Donating Members 961 Member For: 16y 8m 13d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 21/10/13 06:35 AM Share Posted 21/10/13 06:35 AM Recently my twin 044's have become noisier than usual, at even at idle.This used to happen in summer when I ran a 98 tune but it is also occurring now on E70 and E85 even when the engine and fuel/pumps are cold.Do these pumps have a limited life span or could it be the rubber mounts?Most of the time my daily driven car is run on EflexGuessing I've done around 80,000kms with these fuel pumps. turbotrana Member 2,586 Member For: 21y 11m 7d Gender: Male Posted 25/10/13 10:25 AM Share Posted 25/10/13 10:25 AM They are just a crap annoying pump when used externally, new or used and just using normal 98.I had a setup where the fuel was returned to a surge tank and the heated fuel really made the pump go troppo even in winter.I then modified the setup so the fuel returned to the fuel tank first and the first supply intank pump was big enough to supply the surge tank so the fuel kept relatively cool and the pump did not go troppo until summer when road heat and heat in general set the pump into troppo mode.So heat plays a big part and having a surge tank with fuel going back into it on the return line is a no no with this pump.But when you put it intank then this pump is fine.In general the 044 has caused me too many headaches when used externally Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
