I dont mind it, iaschmidt!

I think it'll look great when its fitted and painted. Definately better than just wacking an xR8 bonnet.

My only problem is that I can't get myself around to fitting anything to my car (especially external mods) that have been used on earlier and inferior Fords. It kinda devalues the car and doesn't do the XR6T any justice.

I'm working on a totally unique body kit with a fibreglass manfacturer here in Melbourne.

The bonnet bulge will be designed to emphasize the solid and agressive appearance of the XR's natural shape. The cut outs will add to this effect, whilst actually being functional as well.

The front bumper and grille will be changed also - the bottom grille to start out wider and extend further down, in the same manner as the stock kit (ie, not flipped like in the FPV cars). Grille material to be same as stock, but can be chromed or colour matched if necessary.

The side skirts will be deeper and more solid for a fatter road presence, similar to the C2R kit on the DJR car.

The rear bumper will get some some subtle treatment, mainly making it fatter with the possibility to of incorporating some mesh effect similar to the series 3 AU XR's.

A rear wing is being designed also, firstly to compliment the rest of the car, but also to provide effective downforce. Some people may go for this, for others it may not be their cup of tea. I am still deciding on whether I will remove the spolier altogether (the car will look horn without it)...but I've been advised that I should probably get it fitted if I intend to go from 330 kw to 400.

This will take some time to fully develop, but I'm willing to be patient for a few months. I'd be happy to show anyone interested on the final product.

Your car sounds awesome dude!

It wouldnt be going anywhere near my bonnet, but that's just my view. Good work on having a go however, but I suggest that the design is rather poo like :P

Looks great,

Here I was thinking that I was the only one thinking about bonnet vents for the T.

I can't believe how hot this engine runs but was worried that vents might make the car look like a ricer.

Please keep us posted as I'd be very interested in the final product.

Hey ian, are you painting it?

It will look awesome! just another idea, have you heard of modicoat in brisbane? http://www.modicoat.com/id46.htm

Like that, I reckon that finish would look tops on acid rush! but either way, paint with mesh would look sweet too!

Good luck man

I agree with some of the other guys ford should have given us a scoop as an option.

Turbos get hot I`m suprised ford didnt think to put a scoop similar to the svp turbo mustangs something suttle but functional, probably just trying to keep costs down.

The EL & Xa Xb Gt scoops sound nice but would be good to put out a design specificall for the "T" I think the xr8 bonnet with an SVO scoop would have been mad but I know how some of the guys feel about xr8 bits on the "T"

I like the idea and have posted some time ago how the Turbo definitely needs a bonnet vent, mainly to release the heat than to bring cooler air in.

The XWGT scoop was designed to force air onto the brake booster to assist with braking efficiency.

I'm very partial to the bonnet vents such as on the RS500 Cosworth and the WRX (the vents not the McDonalds garbage bin lid)

It really is an indication that the Turbo should have been fitted with some sort of vent.
