Chaos310 Donating Members 228 Member For: 12y 5m 23d Gender: Male Posted 29/09/13 09:11 AM Author Share Posted 29/09/13 09:11 AM Clutch Flare..... or "clutch burnouts".... ever seen someone in a manual go to drop a skid and the wheels dont spin, then you get an awful smell and some light smoke from under the car..Its just the pressure plate not being able to apply enough force to the friction plate to clamp it hard enough against the flywheel, to give drive through to the gearbox and driveline, so it spins on itself.Prolonged or excessive flare can cause the friction plate to glaze or polish and then it will lose efficiency, leading to premature failure. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
