Posted 21/01/04 02:45 AM Share Posted 21/01/04 02:45 AM I just changed mine and used the Motul. I found there aren't many choices in 10 or 15w/40 apart from some of the cheapo's! Posted 21/01/04 03:39 AM Share Posted 21/01/04 03:39 AM 100%,What Motul model did you use, and how does it run in the T. Motul 4100 Turbolight 10W/40I didn't use the Mobil 1 because I was told by everyone I spoke to that it was more important to get the right weight rather than having synthetic.Mobil 1 was 5 or 15w/50 from memory. To have both would be great but there are no full syn oils that are the right weight. Ford told me 10 or 15W/40 only!Changed it the day before Heathcote drags and the ute didn't miss a beat all day in 30+ degrees and I went faster than B4, often with run after run inside minutes. Guest Scootre Guests Posted 21/01/04 07:39 PM Share Posted 21/01/04 07:39 PM (edited) When I asked my service manager about oils and putting a mineral in the thing between new and 3000kms he said I shouldn't.He agreed with the notion as put forward in the many threads about oils in here - that a mineral oil will help bed in the rings - but said that if there was ever a problem with the engine and an oil analysis was done, then Ford 'could' use that as grounds for reasons why the engine was ferked. He went on to say that while it was very very unlikely FoMoCo would reject such a warranty claim, you shouldn't give them any chance of blaming it on having used the wrong oil.Good point I guess but they'd be in for a fight if they ever told me that because I'd used a mineral oil my warranty was void.
