I guess you're right, with the stamping. I don't even know if that part of the stamping has anything to do with what's inside it, so I've universally ignored it.

Edit: The picture you have there is a 7 blade compressor wheel anyway, the photo is blurry so I can't quite see if it's marked with a 7-1/1.

The number on the housing means sfa. It's a casting or sequence number. I've seen 6 1/1 and 7 1/1 ba/f housing.

Take a photo of the turbo front on. There's differences in the volute casting.

here's a factory G6ET turbocharger (on the left, of course). it's marked with 6-1/1 and it's got a 7+7 blade wheel (identical to my picture above, essentially).
