As far as I know, no factory cars came with a 4.11 ratio. Manuals come with a 3.73 and 6 speed auto's come with a 2.73. Although, I'm not as familiar with the Territory range as I am with the Falcon's.

The "smaller turbo" is a hybrid style turbo, so it is much more difficult to obtain the specs.

It's actually not a hybrid. The wheel sizing started out as an Isuzu/Hino truck turbo hence why it performs so well on the 4ltr.

Comp In 58.2mm

Comp Ex 76mm

Turb In 68mm

Turb Ex 84m

The main visual difference is the size of the compressor housing. The inlet and out are the same size but the housing is physically smaller.

BJC can you post some more pics of the turbo?

How do you know they have changed the diff ratios?

What I meant by "hybrid style" is it is not able to be selected in the standard selection of turbo's as supplied by Garrett, but it is a different combination of wheels/housings.

yeah, you can tell if it's the smaller turbo if you have a front-on picture (without the air intake attached, preferably)

This Website sh!t itself for me right before 12pm!

Cheers for the feedback fellas. Ralph, the diffs are marked with there stickers still being 3.7 and I'm sure I took photos somewhere? I'll take some pills and go get some photos for you but I do have a 3540 turbo downstairs minus the rear housing and you say the comp housings are different sizes? I'll take it out with me when I get the car apart and take some pics...

Cheers for the sizes again :spoton:

Firstly I'll say...Kiddies, this is why you don't take drugs!!!

I spoke to Dave and he was convinced it was an 82 and also said the diffs are most likely 3.46. So I get under the car first and yep he's right, they are 3.46 (or 3.45? now I've forgotten and didn't take a photo thinking I'll remember!) diff ratios which the rear is and guessing the front is the same as the sticker is now gone...

Next on Dave easy say so to just measure the comp fins at there smallest section which is the front of the wheel and they came in at 61.38mm or close to that with my cheap digital verniers so I'm guessing it's the 82 as he said the wheel is 54 on the inducer?

Don't do drugs...

The comp housings are both 0.5 A/R and marked as so, but they are physically different and look marginally different in photo's...

if you have a GT3582R (GT3540 you're talking about) then you can easily compare it to the one on your car to tell if it's the same size or it is bigger/smaller.

The comp housings must only look different on the inside as they are identical afaik on the outside. The difference would include the throat to the comp wheel inducer fins as if they are 58mm (or 54mm?) then I would think the throat or whatever you want to call it would also be slightly bigger at 59mm?

Also I'm not sure why some have gone from calling it a 3540 to a 3582r as long as I've known it it was named the 3540 originally! Each to there own I suppose...

Dave also mentioned it would have about 270-280awkw as it ran a 12.?sec at 110mph before I owned it! About 330rwkw in an the xr6t...

He also told me not to worry about going to any other turbo ($ per kw wise) as in its form now it beats most cars on the road from a standing start as being able to use 1st to its fullest makes a huge difference.

The difference is subtle, but it's there ->

FG-XR6T Turbo (see it's a 7+7 bladed compressor wheel, whereas the below one is a 6+6 compressor "GT style" wheel)

alVLfkz.jpg

GT3582R (BA/BF & FG FPV turbocharger).

With regard to it being called a "3540" this is a misnomer. It's not actually a GT3540 as no such turbo exists - this name hints it is a hybrid between GT35 and GT40 series turbo - this is almost true.

Why is it written 6 1/1 then? Lol. Shouldn't it be 7 1/1...

Here's mine and I'll search for a photo with the while housing... 4f15d7bbfa8dd055f93e06903c29cc12.jpg

Because I told you... all turbocharged BA/BF vehicles and FG FPV's (Territory variants included) have GT3582R's for their factory turbocharger. The "GT" style wheel is a 6+6 style like the one in your photo.

This means you have a GT3582R and it is capable of 350+ all wheel kW on 98 octane fuel.

You could upgrade to a GTX3576R (the one this thread is about) and you'd get earlier spool with similar top end to what you have now.

You could also upgrade to a GTX3582R and have roughly the same spool but more potential for power and top end.

Both of these "upgrade" turbo's have a completely different front wheel structure (11 blade "GTX" style).

You could also downgrade to a factory FG XR6T turbocharger and you'd get earlier spool but less top end (less power on a dyno, too).

I'm not talking about the 6+6 comp fins I'm talking about the stamping on the fcking housing! That top photo you have has the wrong housing on it...

Here is the 7 1/1 marked housing...

My housing in the F6X and the BF series housing is the same as the top photo you posted but with the correct wheel (6+6). The photo you are showing is a 7+7 with the housing marked 6 1/1!

Here is a photo for you. The one on the left...
