The unfortunate thing is that they are (mostly) all made by, as one blogger stated, "obscure electric companies mostly from Korea, China and Taiwan..." I really do like the BlackVue, but every cam seems to fall short where another excels, whether it be size, battery life, night vision etc. There's no one perfect all-rounder... Either way, I wasn't really inclined to pay $300+ for a no-name cam that was new to the market. Here's a good comparison of the most common cams and it seems to be quite good. As you can see, they all have their faults...http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/To see how I'd like the whole 'dash-cam' thing, I bought a cheap DVR-027 that was suggested by a few sites as being the best 'budget' one, I have to say that I wasn't super impressed... I wasn't expecting an amazing cam but I do have to say it is pretty bad. Day vision is good but everything else is a pain... I've since sent it back for a refund - And it wasn't a copy as I bought it from an online store here in Aus. If anyone wants to know anything about it, feel free to PM me. I'm not here to bag out products and suppliers - Just to give an honest and subjective opinion.Well then, I'm back at square one again... More research led me to the NavMan MyVue series and I'm thinking about going the mid-range 358 as it does what I need plus is made by a reputable supplier at a fair price (Sub $200) so I think this will be the next cam I buy. Competitive features, good youtube footage, reputable company - I think it's a winner. If anyone cares, I'll review it when I get it to help out anyone else who's considering one.I'll be following this thread Cheers,Dan Edited 21/09/13 10:59 AM by NVT

Made a quick mention of the phone power leads behind the consol but I'm not really sure.I turned the camera on and it installed everything to the MicroSD card and started recording and to make sure it was pointing in the right direction, I fired up the Wi-Fi on the phone, connected to the cam and checked the 'Live View' and adjusted the cam for the best view. When I got home, I put the SD card in the laptop to check the recording and it was very good so I went onto the blackvue website and there is an update for the camera. The firmware update has "somewhat" fixed that pixelating problem that has been mentioned above, as the camera will now record 1080 @ 10 Mb bit rate....quite a bit better in fact.So driving around during the arvo and evening to test it out, I am very pleased with the quality and I'm sure will pay for itself in the event of a no-fault accident but 1 thing that I'm not real keen on is the viewing angle of the lens in it...at first I thought that the wider the better but it's obvious that to make the viewing angle wider, they have curved the lens therefore "things that appear in the camera lens are closer than they appear" but as Shrekus said above, it's a good thing to have just to cover my @ss Edited 25/09/13 04:50 AM by BenDoCo
