I stuck the camera to the windscreen and ran its power lead down to under the dash and only broke 1 clip taking everything apart (the panel on the side of the fuse box) but the sparky has good glue and fixed it for me - he installed the rest

Well I got my camera yesterday. I was down near Bunbury area for the weekend. When I got back yesterday, I found the box hidden behind a pot plant.

No signature required, which annoyed me.

Oh well, now I got to get me the power magic pro so I can do the installation on the weekend.

I plan on hidding the cables in the A coloum covers.

Might take some pics and do a write up.

:P

Excelent - be careful when taking the panels off for where you want to run the power lead up to the cam but if 1 of the clips do break, don't stress coz the auto sparkies fixed (glued) the 1 I broke back on and is all good now.

Bought a Sandisk Ultra Class 10 32GB MicroSD Card for mine today - It says on the packet that this type of card can.....hang on, I'll quote from the packet......"Up to 30 MB/s Read Speed, Write Speed Lower" and considering the dash-cam will record (write to the disk) at a bit rate of 10Mb - this will work well in it.......$70 @ my local Radio Rentals

After you have fired the dash-cam up for the first time, chuck the SD Card into your computer and update it from this link HERE (v1.009 as of today)

The update will fix the bit rate from 7000'ish Kb to 10 MB and quite a few other bug fixes as well.

Speaking of SD Cards, as you all would know, when formatting something/anything on a Windows based computer, when it has finished, Windows writes a file to the card and some devices get confused with this file so I use a little program called SDFormatter........very quick when doing a 'full' erase - even on the 32 GB card.

Download it from the link on the left of HERE

If you have an Android phone, the app from the Play Store will let do do a heap of things with the cam using Wi-Fi

iPhone uses don't have as many options with their/your app.

Everything works fine on the camera. Very easy to setup/use/playback on the laptop.

My G6e has the push button light switches right behind the rear vision mirror. Its a permanent positive but I was thinking of connecting power somewhere in there even if I have to put a switch there to turn it off rather than threading a line all the way down the pillar.

The unit works of 12-24V so it could be wired directly with a fuse.

Anyone wired from there before? any issues?

I can't find the link atm but I do remember reading something about NOT taking the cig plug apart and wire direct from that..........there may be a fuse in it but so what, as long as it goes to a fuse of the same size (and you put an in-line switch in there somewhere) can't see a prob.

Take it apart, post a pic of whats in it - if it looks strange - and I'm sure 1 of the sparkies here will be able to better answer.

Don't forget about warranty if you do take it apart though

Edit:

did you update the firmware?

I picked up the Power magic pro today from radar's direct.

What an interesting chat that was. Almost got asked to leave the shop when I mentioned that I bought my camera online through massdrop.

Told him I found out about their shop afterwards when looking for the Power magic pro.

I got the Power magic pro regardless, but he was NOT impressed.

anyways, I have powered up the camera and was impressed with all the audio from the lady.

then came the boring stuff. downloaded the android app and that was wicked how you could use the live view.

Then I turned it all off and came inside to download the firmware.

it is going to take 2 hours and a bit to download a 44mb file.

W.T.F?

Did it take you guys this long to download?

I have just downloaded something else and it came down at 900kb, no problems and finished in 20 seconds.

I paused the firmware download and then started it again. 3.4k/sec

ARGGGG frustrating.
