I forgot to tell you that when the power cuts out and is about to stall you can put it in neutral then push the accelerator hard for a second, then as the revs come back down put it back in gear and it goes right back to normal, that way you don't have to stop in the middle of the road.

To me it sounds like a TPS issue.Does it also throw a engine light?

My ol sh*t box BA used to do it and all you had to do was turn it off and on again but as others have said,it could be something totally different.

Welcome to the world of the BA....

Hahaha so ive heard, the BA can be quite a tempermental machine. Im in the innerwest area of sydney, around concord. Ive got a local mechanic who has worked on a couple before. But anyone who knows these cars well would be a priority! Thanks

No light comes on at all, and other than that issue it drives really well.

Would I be best to sell and buy a BF? Ive heard theyve fixed a few bugs in the newer model.

Check out the site sponsors from Sydney (tuners) they all have positive reviews.

If you are going to sell it to upgrade to a newer XR make sure it's a BF mkII or an FG.
