I feel your pain but I hit a stationary car doing 10-15km/h and did a fender and two doors!

The damage bill for the other car was less than my insurance excess for third party as comprehensive was over $4000 a year for myself. All up when I repair my car it'll be less than what comprehensive insurance would have cost for a year - If I have no more crashes I win!

Now I sorta wish I got comprehensive as then my car would get fixed.

I don't really think you can repair that amount of damage cheaply, you could always try and find a wreck and transplant all the parts, meanwhile buying a 4cyl runabout so you can work. This is just terrible, I'd be so shattered if I did that to my car!

thanks guys, I will need to call someone to have a look. If at all possible I would like to keep her, its a special bond, my first ever sports car. Just not sure if some parts are fixable, such as the picture below. There was an arm connecting to where the bolt sheared off, but I am no expert.

This is not directed at anyone, but please take note:

Look guys, he fcuked up.

He has acknowledged that.

And now his pride n joy is all twisted up. Therefore he feels like chit. He has already quit his job, can it get much worse?

So there is NO POINT asking why didnt you have insurance, or how it happened, or what to do next time. Damage has been done, if you havent got anything contructive, or helpful to add, dont post. If you do, at least 25% will magically appear on your warnings, and your post will be deleted.

Dont think I can make it clearer than that.

Am I seeing good use of mod powers finally

You obviously love the thing and are very proud of it, with good reason, so please trust me when I say that there is no need to make a decision about anything right now.

If you have the room, put it in the garage and over the next few weeks, get a paint & panel guy to have a look at it, have a good chat with your old man (what an excellent guy, had a laugh instead of cracking at you - prob crashed a nice car when he was young me thinks) and take your time in making a final decision.

I'm a big believer in 'things happen for a reason' and even though you probably feel totally pissed off atm, just remember what Mrs Brown says......

"Things will work out just the way they're supposed too".

Once you have all the info you need, I'm sure you will make the correct decision on what to do..that best suits you.

Best of luck young fella

Don

All I'm seeing is a need for a new rear cradle (hello wreckers) and some minor panel damage. As stated above, put it away, let the dust settle and once you have the capacity let the collective knowledge base here assist in fixing it.

As for no insurance,we all make dumb calls. If you learn from this its not a waste.

in my opinion it doesn't look terribly bad, the big cost is going to be the airbags, which will probably have to be bought new, new arms etc... then new SRS module since the bags have been deployed.

But like has been suggested, if you have space park it up for a bit, buy a little run around so you can work and save up some coin and do it bit by bit

That bent mount can probably be bent back, obviously not ideal, but if there was any huge stress on it then the welds would be cracked

Yeh it looks like a write off if was insured, the airbag deployment is the killer to re set correctly and that's where big $$$ gets consumed
