:thumbsup: I see that powerchip have now added a chip for the T at arund $1.5k which is alleged to deliver 300kw. Has anyone heard about this or have any thoughts?

Mate you will always achieve the best possible power and fuel economy result by installing a programable type computer, (such as the unichip computer) and having the computer custom dyno tuned to suit your individual engine and other mods if you have any. :w00t2:

There are simply to many variables in a production car/engine which make a generic type of chip a very large compromise, and it offers no flexability for future tuning requirements.

There is too many factors regarding a generic chip and its functionality. Aside from the car itself and their individual variations in power specs from factory, each individual part added has an individual impact of the tuning of a car. The variation of performance from each individual part also has a large impact on how it will perform. Obviously, despite the best of quality control and manufacture quality, some parts will not be as efficient, the amount is not really a great deal but adding each tiny little bit up at the end of the day equals a big gap at the end of the day when trying to get the tune right. Having a generic chip would simply be a waste of money as it wouldn't do much more than a stock ecu in terms of performance gain. An individual, custom tune is critical in obtaining the highest possible power figure that is SAFE. We have to remember that when modifying for performance as everyone does, you want to keep reliability a key priority,a nd having a chip that does only a part of the job it needs to be doing is well... simply not good enough?

However a cheap generic chip, if it worked, would be a good idea. Even if it were tailored specific to a model of car with specific modifications, it still wouldn't be more than 75-80% efficient, and has been proven on many jap domestic model's of performance cars.

How much power do you want-best bang for your buck?

Waded thru a heap of stuff in the APS section,just tagged onto the end of this thread.Whats the best combination of mods to get solid reliable mid 13,s out of a manual T.I don,t want a rocket ,but a stock T is too slow.Assuming APS stage 1, plus SS induction and exhaust mods.Suspect the standard clutch/pressure plate would be marginal.Also feel that an aftermarket shifter would help.Probably an old old question but if someone could enlighten me.Thanks.

Have a look HERE. this could provide a good way of consistant 13's.

As for the question of how much power do you want. I'd like to be able to run an 11.xx 1/4 in street trim consistantly.

I spent $1500 on my car, made another 38kw's at the wheels, just spent another $1500 & lost 10rwkw's. But I know I'll overcome this in a week or so, hurry up week or so.

Changed the Pump, injectors & the valve springs. Drove it home untuned about 80k's & melted the cat with it's use of Petrol being roughly twice what it ought. Dynod the car not knowing about *beep*, only to achieve 215rwkw, (10 down) & a whole lot of shiny stuff on the floor.

Have remedy, will fit over the next week & dyno within a fortnight, hoping for very high 2's

Hey guys, I've read in a Ford performance mag that ditching the standard cat for a hi-flow unit whilst keeping the rest of the exhaust system stock will make noticeable gains.

Has anyone tried this? I am a little skeptical.

Just saving my $$$ for the APS Phase 1 Kit...drool! :blink:

just had a computer and injectors put on my t with a stock exhaust except for the centre muffler removed by a dyno shop in castle hill sydney. The removal of centre muffler gave the car an awsome exhaust note and made a 5 rwkw gain without the computer or injectors being added. Then throw on the computers and injectors and got the sucker up from 205 rwkw up to 268.7 rwkw. Now that's a tough t for stuff all bucks. (lets say around $3k)

But problem has arisen 60 rwkw gain is just not enough.

So back to the shop with a few more $$$$.

Will let you know the gain.

To answer APS's question never enough power the limit comes with me when the car becomes not a daily driver. The car has to remain street driveable? Reliability is the key word.

If anyone wants to know who the workshop was that did this awsome work send me a PM. I would be extremely pleased to send the name to you.
