will removing the unichip with the phase 2 kit require the fuel pump and injectors to removed also?

For sure other wise the engine will run very rich. The minimum you will need to do is swap over the fuel injectors and remove the second fuel pump.

Peter thank you for the reply ,

you are probably right about the standard ford inlet manifold being best, but what I was getting at was the massive amount of piping that is in the T's engine bay.

For starters the airbox is on the wrong side it feeds air over the hot engine too the turbo.

The intercooler piping is also very long and that's why I like the Nizpro design as they have taken a much shorter route to their throttle body which I'm assuming will give minimal lag and better throttle response.

You have even taken this approach in your stage 3 system,I guess I was trying to suggest that it should be in stage 2.

I am a little confused as to the pics on your site regarding the stage 3 system.

In main pic it shows the inlet piping with APS intake over the rocker cover but when you click on the DR series intercooler it shows a factory item and standard airbox.

thanks again Peter with all of your help on all topics, I sure I am not the only one here who greatly appreciates your comments and advice

Juinor, Yeah I understand what your saying about the plumbing and air cleaner though it makes no difference to power up to approx 330Kw,I know this from our previous development work. The pictures on the APS website are now correct, we have altered the final spec on the PHASE III system and the website now reflects the correct components. The other reason why the big air cleaner is not in the PHASE II system is simply the NOISE factor. Many of our customers would not live with the induction noise of the PHASE III open style air filter for day to day driving, and we always try to cater for all of our customers needs. Thanks for your words of support the world of high performance is an interesting place to be.

Hi Peter,

Have you done much work with the XR6 N/A and if so, what sort of power gain has been produced?? I assume a less restricted exhaust would have to be a must in conjunction with a chip even though I would prefer to keep the sound near "stock" because of the large amounts of highway driving I do. Also Hi- flow filter and better air intake would also help I'd imagine.  Would the price be similar to the Phase 1 Mods on the "T"??.

Cheers.

Silverbullet, I have not looked at the N/a xr6,so I cant make any sensible comment to assist you, let me know what state you reside in and I will get you details of a tuner who could assist you.

Silverbullet, I'd recommend you contact C and J motorsport or Romano motors, both of these tuners could assist you, in any event its a good place to start by having a chat to the guys.

G'day again Peter. I have recently purchased a second hand unichip for an XR6T and am willing to wait untill you start selling the injectors to current phase one owners before I have it installed. Is the price of $1080 for the injectors including installation and retuning the chip? If not, what would I expect to pay for the installation of the chip and injectors including tuning (minus the cost of the chip considering I already have that).  Would the fact that I have the centre muffler removed and the K&N filter help in reducing exhaust back pressure thus reduce the chance of valve spring issues? Thanks.

Back onto the power question. To justify why I would like to pay $5000 for 350kw  is based on a dollar per kw calculation.

Phase 1 = 40kw increase (approx $1650) = $41.25/kw

Phase 2 = 90kw increase (approx $5650) = $62.77/kw

Phase 1.5 looks good at 60kw (approx $2600) = $43.33/kw

hence how I arrived at $5000 for 350kw.

110kw increase ($5000) = $45.45/kw

Obviously it an extremely basic formula and there are many considerations to take into account....ie Phase II is EPA compliant etc (Does this require an engineers certificate? If so, approx how much more is this?). However, this is my personal bang for buck formula which helps me justify the dollars! Thanks for all your input to this forum! I hope to be popping in soon for the injector/chip install!

Cheers,

          Chris

Chris, The $1080 would be for the injectors only, plus installation of the injectors unichip and dyno tuning/mapping work would be another $480 approx, there is a fair amount of time to do the mapping work with the larger injectors, and auto cars take longer to map than manual cars. These prices are based on a doing a stock car, if the car has lots of other mods then the time frame will be longer and the cost higher.Your price forumla makes sense and on that basis the PHASE1 and PHASE1.5 provide the best bang for buck. There is no doubt that higher power levels cost more on the Kw per dollar basis though this has always been the case and its unlikely to change into the future. IN any event thanks for your feedback and I trust that we can assist you in the near future.

Hi Peter

I noticed you have updated your website with regards to Phaselll, Any reason for going to the diffrent specs? I like the the new specs, only thing I preferd with the old setup was it looked alot more standard under the bonnet and didnt set off as many alarm bells with the boys in blue ,would there be an option to have the old spec setup fitted?. Is there new pricing yet?

Thanks Again Peter

G'day Frank, We continue to push the envelope in terms of best bang for buck, and the larger air cleaner package( designed for the PHASE IV ) really helps the PHASE III system at the higher power and boost levels. We will prove continued compliance to ADR 79/00 engine emissions, and with an engineers certificate the car can be legally registered, so theres no reason you have to worry about the EPA or RTA forcing you to remove the PHASE III system from your car. We should have final pricing later this week.In addition the stock blow off valve was marginal at the higher turbo pressure so we have included a APS BOV in the PHASE III system.

Perhaps you tested a different intake system to the Nizpro one Peter, as we found substantial changes in throttle response and feel??? Maybe your development should include a Nizpro intake system (That said, maybe I should test one of YOUR exhaust systems if they are as good as you say) ;)
