Peter,

In an earlier reply to one of my questions in relation to a phase 1 addition you stated that the factory fitted exhaust would cope with the ph 1 kit but to increase kw's even further an aps exhaust should be fitted. Question:

1.Will the phase one increase kw to 300 and if the aps exhaust is fitted what would the kw output be?

2.What is the retail price of the aps exhaust?

That is correct, the APS high flow exhaust will allow another 20 to 25 kW of power at the wheels when used in conjunction with the phase I system (the engine will need to be tuned via the unichip computer) after the exhaust system is installed to generate the higher power level.

1) Power with APS phase I and APS full turbo back exhaust system (315 to 320kW)

2) The Aps 304 S/S turbo back exhaust system ( includes 3.5'' high flow cat converter) retails for $1897 inc GST. Not bad bang for buck value with plenty of potential to proceed furter. :k24t:

turbo4wd,

you can buy just the piggyback ECU on the APS kit.  This is call the APC ecu only pack and is about $1650.  If you want the (new) stage 1 kit it is about $2650 and includes injectors and ecu.

All of the above is needed if/when you go to stage 2-3

What I mean is can I buy just the unichip on its own for say $1100 but with a suitable map already loaded so I can just plug it in and get say 270kw?

Sorry slow reply hat on this week.

You can buy an XEDE with a preloaded map for XR6T but, as stated above by Geea etc. we would recommend having it tuned individually to suit each car.

There you go seems like we all agree on one issue, a custom dyno tuned interceptor is the best way to achieve a powerful smooth T. :lol:

From numerous people and writes ups on the net the common message about this company appears to be, "don't go there..."

Although I have not dealt with this company myself, I would not recommend them. If your looking for just a chip and no further mods try APS (Unichip) or Chiptorque (Exede). If you wanted to go further there are a few companies offering products eg DNA motorsport, CAPA, AVO etc but my personal oppinion would be to stick to the two main players. They are both respected and reputed companies.

I've had 2 turbo cars with 'chip' solutions in the past. If you have the choice between a chip and programmable piggyback ecu, I'd recommend the piggyback ecu any day.

A generic chip map will most likely not match the attributes of our cars, which appear to be subject to large variations in output.

For a chip to work effectively it must be tuned to the individual car on the dyno, and locked in place.

Any change to any car components will probably render the chip less than optimal.

A piggyback ecu is far more flexible in terms of tuning.

Also, note the Powerchip is not a replacement chip, but actually a non-adjustable piggyback ecu, that plugs into the stock ecu, whereas "chips" I've used in the past were replacement ecus.
