As I've stated earlier I live in Katter's electorate, I won't vote for him but he'll get in anyway.

In the senate I'll be numbering every box and I urge everyone else to take the time and do this too. Make your vote count.

I'll be voting for the Sex party - because I want a minor party to hold the balance of power in the senate. I realise their drug policies will cost them votes but if we can get some tax from it and the churches then I'll vote yes.

REGULATE AND TAX MARIJUANA

It is now commonly accepted that “The War on Drugs” has failed. Marijuana is an enormous cash crop with profits going directly into the pockets of organized crime. Regulation of the distribution of marijuana (like alcohol) will get it off the street. The revenue from taxing it plus the savings on the costs of enforcement and jails is worth many billions of dollars. Read More >>

LEGALISE VOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA

The right to choose to die with dignity should be a basic human right. Over 82% of Australians agree that voluntary euthanasia should be legalised. Read More >>

DECRIMINALISE PERSONAL DRUG USE

Many Australians would have experimented with an illicit drug sometime in their lives. This shouldn’t be a crime nor should the personal possession of small amounts of drugs. Portugal has had a very successful history with a policy of decriminalisation which we should emulate. Read More >>

SAME SEX MARRIAGE

It is about time that Australia catches up with the rest of the world and allows same sex marriage. Read More >>

CHURCHES TO PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAX

Church owned companies include some of the most well known brands in Australia including cereal manufacturers, insurance companies and publishers and yet they don’t pay income tax. A conservative estimate is that income tax exemptions alone to churches and religious organisations cost taxpayers nearly $ 20 billion a year. Add to that GST concessions, exemptions from capital gains tax (on property and share trading) and the Fringe Benefits Tax Exemption and the cost to tax payers is staggering. Read More >>

NO DATA RETENTION

We oppose the mandatory retention of all Australian users’ internet browsing history and emails by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for at-will inspection by law enforcement agencies, and support strong judicial oversight over the ability of law enforcement to access individuals’ internet and email data. ABORTION

There should be national pregnancy termination laws along the same lines as divorce law which allow for legal, no-fault and guilt-free processes for women seeking an abortion. We need to take urgent action to stop this continuing to be a political football. Read More >>

UNIFORM CENSORSHIP

What adults are allowed to watch and read in Canberra is different to Melbourne and what they can buy in Sydney is different to what they can buy in Queensland. We believe there should be a national approach to censorship with the establishment of sensible national classification scheme made for the 21st century. Read More >>

NATIONAL ANTI-DISCRIMINATION LAWS

It should be illegal to unfairly discriminate against people or companies on the basis of industry, job, occupation, profession or calling. Our policy is to enact national anti-discrimination laws which make it illegal to do so. Read More >>

A SECULAR EDUCATION SYSTEM

The public education system should be secular in nature and not provide for any religious instruction whatsoever. We oppose the chaplaincy program and believe that the public system should remain free of religious interference. Read More >>

EDIT - Yes I'm a financial member of a trade union, liberal would be a bad outcome for me personally but labour hasn't done enough to repeal liberals changes and the power of unions is waning. So neither get my vote.

I'll be voting Labour last on my electoral forms. They've had their chance in the last two terms to show us how they govern and all I've noticed is the infighting and struggles for power. Also it bothers me that neither Labour leader that was voted for has sat for an entire term. I know you vote for the party not the man/woman leading them but we can see that when they have have changed leaders their policies have changed too.

For the Senate I'll be filling in all the boxes. Palmer, AMEP or and all the other smaller parties first. Liberal and Labour last or thereabouts.

Tony Abbott can have his cake but hopefully the senate can decide how much of it he can spoil.

I wont be voting either of the major parties first but will preference Labor ahead of the Coalition.

I will also be filling out all the squares in the senate form, a handy site for seeing who is running and making your own how to vote card is http://belowtheline.org.au/

AMEP in the senate and Liberal for Reps...if for no other reason than I'm in Swanny's electorate and I despise him more than I do Krudd. Slimy dodgy little fckers.

Regardless of political persuasion I just hope that whoever gets the balance of power restores some dignity and grace to the office of PM - the popularity contest that it has become is a f*ckn joke. None of the PMs from Howard back denigrated the office and treated us like fools anywhere near as much as the last two have.

I shudder to think what the rest of the world thinks when they see the PM of our country encouragingly being mobbed by smart phone wielding supporters taking selfies a few metres away from some poor homeless bastard sleeping on a park bench...only to glance at him on the way past and quickly look the other way. That's a real indication of character.

On policy there really isn't too much difference, and to be honest you can't really take what they promise seriously anyway.

So my recommendation is to vote for whatever local candidate you think will represent you best and whoever matches your ideals in the senate.

Labour = One of the only AAA rated economies after global financial crisis. Would that be the case if liberal were in power? Probably not.

My 2c = more now than it would have!

Not that it's all about money, I'm still for the working class.

Libs.. Not a fan of Mr Abbot but they've promised big dollars in my electorate.. Chances it will happen are slim to none but I can hope.

they're all a pack of liars if you ask me, but deciding who is better and who is worse is a hard call.

Despite what they are saying about the global economy, most small business are suffering with the current rules, something most employees do not see unless the business you worked for has closed up.

Better internet or a 0.0374% better budget.. hmmm

Tax will increase regardless.

At this stage I no longer care which party wins, as long as we get someone decent in senate.

Better internet for some people in ten years time, maybe. :)

Very good point Ratter...small/medium business (I.e. the largest employer sector in the country) is hurting bad. All looks OK on the surface but there's a lot of frantic paddling going on underneath.

Yeah sure we're better off than pretty much anywhere else in the world but it doesn't mean that things can't be better, especially given the amount of minerals that we've been tearing out of the ground in the last decade.
