Yeah im going with the FG, everytime I drive my fg xr6 na it just takes over me everytime.

Plus bang for buck, and more Litres to work with.

The Full forged 400kw at the wheels engine for the evo10 I went to shop that only works on evos and GTR's said its 40 000 just for the engine no hands, labour is 48hours.

Yeah next year, swap the NA for the turbo, and love my ford.

Question is know if I buy the xr6t should I upgrade all the mods on it to stronger better ones, even though it has warranty or leave it for a about 10000kms and see what goes on.

Thank you again everyone for the help!!!

the evo if you pushed it to 300rwkw will lag soo much , if your looking for a bit of power than the xr's are the way to go all the go youll need from 2000rpm 5k work done and ill push 310-330rwkw and blow most everything away

Take time to Re-search FG XR6T Common problems too to help make decision, Diff Bushes, Oil Pump gears depending how you drive, Turbo Oil Filter, Trans Oil Heat Exchanger Failure, Weak Paint, Factory Tyres cannot handle even stock power level.

Other than that, great car to drive around in, Upgrade the Injectors, Tune the ECU and get a Good Set of Tires and leave it at that.

If you want to go all out, buy the Evo.

Hey guys. Yeah the FG all the way. Evo starting boost is at 3.6k if its siting at 300kw at the wheels.

But it cost so much to get it there.

POwer to weight stock xr6t vs a evo10 with some mods the ford still wins its only 100kg-150kg heavy but take out the spare wheel and change the seats and its under 1600kg.

and the fuel usage, the Evo uses a hellof a lot more I sat in on all day my friends stock it crazy..on the high way its doing 3-3.5k rpm in 5th gear...the ford staying 1.5k-2k rpm in 6th...

By far the ford just feels so much better.

What I meant but improving the car is stringing intercooling piping and bigger intercooler, valves etc ive read that most of the stock xr6t stuff is pretty weak and will fail soon...

but yeah cant wait till opens.... 300kw at the wheels on a xr6t is easy anymore and I wont be alive very long...

You have a great budget for a kid on p plates

Not on p's anymore, and I work 2 jobs that pay enough lols I Driven both of the cars and that's the problem..I like them both. EvoX full custom titanium exhaust system sets me back 2.2k. While on the xr6t is half of it.

And when you ask if I like RWD or AWD I like both....im fk'd in the head haha but every corner I take I like siding in it abit but gripping in it too..so I just have to figure it out for myself.

But really think you all for your pros and cons. I knew it was stupid to post anything on here about a EvoX

I think ill keep my xr6, swap for the xr6t and later buy an EvoX second hand, then the prices are bit lower and build it from there.

THANKS ALOT EVERYONE!!!!

Still I love the FG more. and WOOT GOO FORD!!! FK Expensive Daewoo UP THE a$$ lols 2014 I get my opens and im trading my na fg 2012 for a turbo...have to wait and see if this new one is better ;) or you know how they said the the early model FG were bad...might wait a year or two more just to be safe?

nelsonian101 has some good points. If you want, you'll get the taxi to turn like a a setup evo. But then there's a compromise in ride etc, just like in an Evo.

Sure stock for stock the Evo is certainly a more capable bit of kit in the corners, but that comes with the above compromise too.

You can get the taxi's to corner pretty well without spending a mint. Heck even with only Bilstiens in my BFii I've done heaps of group mountain runs with forum mates in EVO's and STi's and it's a non issue, often they get me to lead too and are happy with the pace. Sure if one wants to be a full hero I'm gonna run out of brakes/whatever trying to keep up and have no chance, but a reasonable fun pace, that isnt' dangerous it's not too bad. Only last friday night on nebo/glorious after totally kitting the car with superpro bushes and a 520/340 spring combo had a play with a new Megane RS265 4x people in the taxi, 1 in the Renault, he was leading, kept on him for near 10min, brakes being the major concern after a while so buttoned off for safety. Corner speed was a non issue.

I have no doubt, jumping car to car some of these more capable vehicles feel quite a bit sharper, but on the streets in the real world the differences are not quite a huge unless being silly. I usually find people in Evos, STi's/similar etc are quite surprised a taxi barge can punt along with them. I put that down to years of internet boat banter, it's everywhere.

One only has to look at some of the laptimes in various (mainly stock I think) cars to see and F6 for example holds it's own pretty well against many others on a track with a good driver.

As for the OP's quest, comes down to personal choice balanced with intended use etc. Personally I think spending a bit on a taxi getting it to handle better still retains 90% of ride and usablity so is the best value option + RWD is more fun (skid pan days etc). Even factoring a bit more cost for a brake upgrade kit is well worth it and has most areas covered for general use.

If you plan on tracking competitively then might be a different story, but then again you could go further on the taxi like Nelson (still not hitting evo costs probably?) and have that covered too.

All while having better straight line performance vs cost vs reliability.

Finally, It's Australian!!! Factors a bit for me.
