Don't do it is my advice. If there is an area of concern then target that only, but don't go spraying water around the engine bay.

I had a mate who cherished his VL Late model camira back in its day. Something like 20000km in 5 years. Anyway he would degrease the engine bay regularly with no real reason. It just played havoc with the electrics.

I have a work VT Commode and have never done an indiscriminate degrease. Only target areas that you need the grease off and don't get any of the electrics wet.

Degreasing was Ok back in 70s when you had no electrics, not now.

I have done this many times over the 10 1/2 years I have owned my BA, and have never had any issues.

Worst problem is that the serpentine belt gets a bit dry, but a couple of squirts of silicone oil or tyre shine fixes that.

Maybe the general use sh*te electrical connectors!

Avoid spraying water near the spark plug cover and any electrics

I have washed the engine bay on my car and my old car 10 times plus and have only had troubles once when water got past my coil packs and filled the spark plug holes with water my car began to run on 2 or 3 less cylinders after that
