many have failed with stock power and some have gone mid 300's, driving style, tyres used and how power is delivered can have an impact on how it will last but can be luck of the draw

Just on the street or drags? Tranny cooler already? Do you drive it hard all day everyday without warming it up? Do you shift down manually or let it kick down? Do you do many 3rd and 4th gear WOT's too 200+km/h. Drive and treat it right no reason high 200s or low 300rwkw won't last a while but it will eventually die. Your 260rwkw is probably about right.

I'll be driving it as a daily, I will push it here and there, but nothing over the top, the car im looking at has roughly 250rwkw and has a rebuilt 4 speed... I made a big mistake with buying a 5spd manual last time, so just trying to get abit of info before I go out and spend some dollars.. as I said its a xr6t with 250rwkw so I will punch it abit, but 65% will be driving quite normally, especially considering petrol prices these days...

A "built" BTR can "usually" take low 300's for quite some time but again driving style has alot to do with it

Some stock BTR's can hang on to modified power

The mid range torque of the turbo 4.0 just kills the BTR but again if u look after it and get it serviced often and a big transcooler on board u should get many trouble free kms with ~260rwkw

Some can even rack up 80 passes, runs 10's and hit over 130mph with untouched internals...just as Ford made it:)

Very under rated box on the strip behind a turbocharged engine when sorted....that tall first gear loads the turbo beautifully.

Its never going to be as good as a ZF day to day though.

As said above. A good box IF built correctly and tuned correctly. I've driven the 6spd zf and to me the btr feels better/smarter. In saying this I would never go back to a 4spd but this is only because of the issues I have had with mine...... THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERE NOT BUILT CORRECTLY!!

My first tune at about 105,000km's was 257rwkw and I was running a stock BTR. Had that power for about 20,000km's... BTR held up perfectly, the line pressures were increased and shifted firm with no 'flaring' on gear changes.

At about 125,000klms I upped the power to 290rwkw of which was ok for about 10,000kms before the 2nd to 3rd shift started to 'flare'. Ran it with that box for another few thousand k's taking it easier on it until I got a 'build' BTR fitted at about 138,000kms. Currently car is on 177,000kms and (touch wood) the built BTR hasnt missed a beat. I dont thrash the car but drive it like it wants to be driven of which with the very firm shifts it likes to accelerate harder. The built BTR I have performs really well at my power level and I think it would handle a fair bit more.

When test driving the car, open it up a bit through the gears noting the shift 2nd to 3rd for any flaring (slipping).

Hope this helps.
