HI guys, we are currently working on a set of monster front brakes to suit the B A FALCON my question is should we make the brakes to suit the 17'' rims or make the brakes to suit 18'' or bigger rims. The problem is if we design the brakes to suit 18''rims or bigger the brakes wont fit the stock 17'' rims. Any feedback would greatly appreciated. We intend to use the best brand brake rotors and calipers available and they will provide awesome stopping power for the xr6t and XR8. Thanks in advance lets see your views.

As you know Peter I seem to be the resident brake tester.

If they arn't big enough or good enough I'll be the first one to know about it. Hence why you should make them fit 17's :D

Plus the fact that most cars out there have 17's, and I'm sure there would be loads of demand for better brakes to "cure" the brake shudder issue.

This will also be a bit more cost effective for people wanting to upgrade. Cost of new wheels + tyres and new brakes would put most peoples bank managers or ministers of finance in a grave...

You can still fit some 4potters and 330mm rotors (maybe bigger) in the 17s.

Maybe have two options, a bigger set for people with the 18's.

If it's a good set of brakes for a decenent and affordable price you've just garuntee'd my order and fitment

The car needs good brakes and better than the ones fitted standard.

Not everyone can afford Brembos either with 18" wheels to suit

I would build for the 17" wheel.

hey guys thanks for the instant feedback this is the info that I wanted to hear, this helps APS to make decisions around what you guys need and want. Next question, what cost do you guys think a big brake set is worth, and what would you be prepared to pay ? Thanks again.

As you know I have 19's so either for me!

But I think if you make them to fit 17's you only need develop one product that will suit all cars, and with the higher volume of sales of said product, will hopefully make them even more affordable for all.

I would have to see whats on offer first.

I have a rought guide atm (MS700  ) taking his brake package and braking it down bit for bit.

I'd preferrably like to spend around 1.5 - 2k, 3k and I know I can get something damn good.

Is it possible to get different stages?

Cheaper, moderate, expensive.

for front brakes I'd be thinking about $1500 tops, which I'd reckon would have to be 4-pot calipers & pads to suit the hi-po brake rotors

and maybe recycling the front calipers on the rear with smaller brake pads...

definately to suit the 17's cause I will not be upgrading to 18's due to cost of replacing rubber...

TOP Idea Peter, great of APS to show initive in such a demanding area :)

Cheers,

Matt

If possible I'd like to stay with a single brake upgrade option, this way we have a chance to keep the price very affordable by producing the brakes in volume. I am aiming to produce an awesome brake set for under 3 K which will be engineered by the best people in the brake business.
