I tend to be thorough. I'm in the market to buy a new car, I had pretty much narrowed it down to a Turbo Territory (my other thread) due to it uses. But after countless hours of reading on this forum the idea of a FG Ute has popped up. Thought I'd post up asking a few qs and tell you what I'm after. I've had Holdens and hilixus all my life so still learning the ford way. I share a Centurion wake boat with a mate that weighs in somewhere around the 2200kg mark. The boat is on a reasonably well balanced random trailer with cable brakes. I'd estimate ball weight around 140kg I can't afford 2 cars, so I'm chasing the best of both worlds in which is a car that can tow the boat, but also have 250+kw. My mate who I share the boat with has a car that can tow, but we wanna share it around a bit. We head away on average once a month. So I would probably be towing it 6-7 weekends a year. (it's about 2hr drive. Rowville to Eildon). I'm aware the territory would do it better. But I'd prefer the Ute more as a daily which Is what it'll be used for 95% of the time, and I've read a lot of dramas about the terry turbo. So my questions.. -If it fit up the Hayman Reese class 4 2300kg bar to the Ute. Do you think it will be ok to tow it? -would the ZF auto require/benefit from an upgraded transmission? -anything else I should know re: towing with the FG Ute? Happy to go down the upgraded suspension path if required. Also Is axle tramp / bent axles an issue I should worry about? Thanks heaps in advance for your replies! Phillo. So going by that although the weight is within the limits it still probably isn't a good idea.To be honest with that weight your diesel trucks are the way to go really. Also, the turbo's dont like the added boost pressure it demands when towing heavy loads, and your standard tune will most likely display and engine warning light due to an unusual amount of flow past your O2 sensors, which makes the car think it's not running correctly Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
